Apple is known for its amazing products that shape the future of consumer technology. In 2024, the Cupertino-based tech giant could launch several new devices to delight its ever-growing consumer base and challenge its competitors.

Based on reports from trustworthy industry insiders and leakers, I have put together a list of upcoming Apple products expected to launch in 2024.

What new Apple products are coming in 2024?

The new iPhone 16 models and Apple Watch series will get a customary release in September 2024. Apart from that, there are a few other devices gathering pace in the rumor mill. Take a look.

1. iPhone 16 lineup

iPhone 16 lineup

Just like every year, the iPhone is one of the most user-anticipated Apple devices in 2024. This year’s iPhone 16 lineup could feature larger ‘Pro’ models with new chipsets and camera upgrades.

According to a MacRumors report, there’s a possibility of a new Capture button that would accompany the Action button introduced with 15 Pro models. The new button would probably be located on the bottom right side of the device, allowing users to capture landscape photos and videos. Additionally, it could even be touch-sensitive, letting you zoom in or out with a simple swipe.

Since Apple is aiming to improve the photography-related features with the iPhone 16 Series, we can also expect to see an improved 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens with better low light performance. Moreover, the iPhone 16 Pro Max could feature a 300mm super-telephoto periscope camera for significantly better optical zoom and portrait photography capabilities.

While most major changes would be limited to the Pro models, we can still expect the lower-tier models to get some significant improvements. For example, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus could have a vertical camera layout instead of a diagonal one and could also let you capture Spatial Videos.

As far as the internals are concerned, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max would feature a brand new A18 Pro chipset. This new chip would be capable enough to run demanding machine learnig tasks to power new AI features expected to launch with iOS 18. However, the non-pro models are expected to get last year’s A17 series chips.

2. Apple Watch X and Ultra 3

Apple could unveil a slew of new Apple Watch models in 2024. This would include the Apple Watch Series X, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Ultra 3. While we expect the Apple Watch Series X and Apple Watch SE to feature a major design overhaul, the Ultra 3 would be more of a nominal upgrade.

Mark Gurman believes that the Apple Watch X would replace the existing band attachment mechanism with a magnetic one. This new mechanism would allow users to swap bands with ease. Additionally, Apple could also add a couple of new health features to detect hypertension and sleep apnea.

As far as the other two models are concerned, the Apple Wach Ultra 3 could finally become available in a darker color and borrow health features from the Series X. Meanwhile, now deleted reports from Omdia suggest that the Apple Watch SE could borrow the design from Apple Watch Series 9. They even say that it may get the S9 SiP and Apple Watch Series 4’s ECG feature.

3. Redesigned iPhone SE

iphone-se-4

2024 is expected to be the year Apple could launch a new iPhone SE since it hasn’t been updated for almost two years. As per industry insiders and leakers, this time around, the iPhone SE could receive a major redesign with a flat frame. Also, the thick bezels and Home Button will end their run.

The iPhone SE 4 will most probably arrive with a 6.1-inch OLED display with a notch, which would make it the first iPhone SE to support Face ID. However, in order to keep costs low, the new model will only feature a single camera.

Fortunately, to make its budget offering a compelling option for consumers, Apple is said to equip the iPhone SE 4 with a USB-C port, possibly along with the new Action button, just like the flagship iPhone models. Further, it would also feature a newer chipset along with Apple’s custom 4nm 5G modem.

4. M3 Mac mini

The M3 series of Apple Silicon chips have been available since the end of October 2023 in newer MacBook Pros. However, it’s in 2024 that we might finally get to see the M3 chips make their way to Apple’s desktop-class Mac mini, which hasn’t received any upgrade since January 2023.

As per a report by The Verge, Apple is already working on the next-generation Mac mini, which will become available in early 2024. Based on the hardware specifications found in third-party developer logs, one of the new Mac mini models will likely feature an 8-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, and 24GB of RAM.

5. New HomePod with a touchscreen display

New HomePod with a touchscreen display

The HomePod was first released by Apple in February 2018, with the HomePod mini following in November 2020. While Apple discontinued the original HomePod in March 2021, an updated version of the speaker was released in January 2023, suggesting that Apple has more plans for the smart speaker market.

In 2024, Apple could finally release a HomePod with a display to take on existing smart home devices from Google and Amazon. According to reports from Ming-Chi Kuo, the new HomePod would feature a 7-inch display.

Not only that, earlier reports from Mark Gurman have also suggested that Apple is working on a high-end speaker with a touch screen, which could possibly combine an Apple TV set-top box with a camera for video calling.

To add fuel to the fire, code seen by 9to5Mac in tvOS 17.4 beta 3 reveals the existence of a new device capable of running tvOS. This device, identified as “Z314,” seems to be powered by an A15 Bionic chip.

The code also reveals that prototype and production versions of this device are already under test, suggesting that the new HomePod has reached an advanced stage of development.

6. Next-gen AirPods and AirPods Max

airpods-2024-lineup

According to Mark Gurman, Apple plans to bring a major overhaul to the Airpods lineup in 2024. This would include new non-pro Airpods (4th generation) and AirPods Max (2nd generation), which haven’t been abandoned by Apple since 2021 and 2020, respectively.

Apple’s highest-end audio product, the AirPods Max, will include a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port. Moreover, we might also get to see AirPods Max in new colors. Besides that, Apple would replace the H1 audio processor with an upgraded H3 audio processor.

This would allow the AirPods Max to offer better noise cancellation along with support for advanced features like Conversation Awareness, Adaptive Audio, and Personalized Volume.

As far as the non-pro AirPods are concerned, we may get to see two new models. The higher-end model would offer Active Noise Cancellation, but the lower-end model might skip this feature to keep the prices in check. Nevertheless, both the non-pro AirPods will look like a blend of the AirPods (3rd generation) and AirPods Pro (2nd generation) but with shorter stems.

Apple products released so far in 2024

We are only a couple of months into 2024, and Apple has released Tim Cook’s legacy device – the Apple Vision Pro, and the biggest iPad update ever!

Here’s a breakdown of everything Apple has already rolled out in 2024.

1. Brand-new M2 iPad Air and M4 iPad Pro

M2 ipad air

As anticipated, Apple unveiled new iPads in May. This includes a new iPad Air and iPad Pro along with Apple Pencil Pro and a redesigned Magic Keyboard.

The 2024 iPad Air now comes in 13-inch and 11-inch sizes. The most notable upgrade is the inclusion of the M2 chip, which offers up to 50 percent better performance than the M1 iPad Air. The iPad Air also boasts a 12MP landscape front camera with support for Centre Stage and dual landscape stereo speakers with Spatial Audio.

The base model of iPad Air now offers a generous 128GB of storage, with the 11-inch and 13-inch models priced at $599 and $799, respectively. Moreover, for those who need additional storage, Apple has introduced new 512GB and 1TB options.

As far as the iPad Pro is concerned, Apple has several new features in store for you. In terms of design, Apple has made the new iPad Pro significantly thinner and lighter, moving the front camera to the landscape position. Meanwhile, the rear camera module now includes a LiDAR sensor and dual-tone flash.

M4 ipad pro

The improvements don’t stop here. Apple has equipped the new iPad Pro with the M4 chip, which offers a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 16-core Neural engine, and a dedicated Display engine.

Additionally, the 2024 iPad Pro features an OLED display with support for up to 1600 nits of peak brightness and a better cooling system for sustained performance under heavy workloads.

The base iPad Pro now offers 256GB of storage, with the 11-inch model starting at $999 and the 13-inch model starting at $1299.

Meanwhile, the Magic Keyboard is significantly lighter and features a dedicated Function row with a slightly larger trackpad and palm rest.

On the other hand, the new Apple Pencil Pro is priced at just $129, and the redesigned Magic Keyboard is priced at $299 for the 11-inch model and $349 for the 13-inch model.

3. M3 MacBook Air (13- and 15-inch)

M3 MacBook Air 2024

As anticipated, Apple refreshed the 13″ and 15″ MacBook Air with the M3 versions in 2024, finally phasing out the M1 model released in 2020. While we didn’t see any new changes to the design of the entry-level Macs, the new models boast almost 20 percent and 35 percent better CPU performance than the M2 and M1 models, respectively.

The base M3 MacBook Air, just like last year’s model, offers an 8-core CPU and GPU, 8GB of Unified Memory, and 256GB of storage. However, you can still configure the machines with a 10-core GPU, up to 2TB of storage, and 24 GB of unified memory.

While the battery life is still rated to be the same as last year, the new models now support up to two external displays and come with Wi-Fi 6E, which offers download speeds up to twice as fast as the previous generation. Apart from that, Apple has also introduced a new Anodization seal for the Midnight finish, which will help reduce smudges and fingerprints.

4. Apple Vision Pro

Apple vision pro

Apple has gone completely overboard with its first mixed-reality headset. It offers an ultra-premium design with equally high-end specs, including an array of 12 cameras and 5 sensors, which feed their data to the M2 and R1 chipsets to create spatial experiences with its two high-resolution displays.

As for its software and user interface, the Apple Vision Pro runs on a brand-new spatial operating system dubbed visionOS. It offers a truly remarkable gesture and voice-based user interface, which is further enhanced by the headset’s eye-tracking sensors that can detect real-time eye movement and facilitate a new authentication system like Optic ID.

Apple Vision Pro became available in February at a starting price of $3499. However, If you want to know more about the headset’s hardware and its innovative features, check out our detailed article on Apple Vision Pro.

Are you experiencing an issue where you are not able to see Live Voicemail on your iPhone when you receive a call? Live Voicemail in iOS 17 allows you to see real-time transcription of the caller’s message, providing immediate context for the call. However, if the option is missing, fret not. I have found workarounds to fix Live Voicemail not showing on iPhone in iOS 17. Let’s get started!

  1. Ensure Live Voicemail is available in your region or language
  2. Force quit and relaunch the Phone app
  3. Enable Live Voicemail
  4. Ensure you’re using the feature correctly
  5. Check your iPhone’s cellular reception
  6. Ensure call forwarding is turned off
  7. Disable Low Power mode
  8. Check for carrier updates
  9. Basic fixes

9 ways to fix Live Voicemail not working on your iPhone running iOS 17

I’m pretty sure one of the solutions is going to fix this issue on your iPhone. However, if none of the solutions below work for you, I would suggest contacting Apple Support to get your iPhone checked for any potential software issues.

1. Ensure Live Voicemail is available in your region or language

If you see an alert that “Voicemail is currently unavailable/cannot access voicemail,” you may reside in an unsupported area. At the time of writing, Live Voicemail is only available in select locations, including the United States and Canada, excluding Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Furthermore, Live Voicemail in iOS 17 is only designed to work with English. So, if you receive voicemails in other languages, live transcription will not work for you. And of course, your carrier must support voicemail services.

2. Force quit and relaunch the Phone app

Temporary iOS bugs may prevent the Phone app from displaying or playing voicemails. In most cases, you can fix such issues by force-quitting the app and relaunching it. You may also restart your iPhone to iron out all iOS bugs.

  1. Open the App Switcher on your iPhone.
  2. Swipe up on the Phone app to close it.

Force close and relaunch the Phone app
  3. Then, open the Phone app to see if Live Voicemail works.

3. Enable Live Voicemail

Live Voicemail is enabled by default in iOS 17. However, the option for Live Voicemail won’t show up if you’ve accidentally disabled it on your iPhone. Here’s how you can ensure that Live voicemail is enabled on your iPhone:

  1. Open Settings → Navigate to Phone → Live Voicemail.
  2. Enable Live Voicemail toggle.

Use Live Voicemail in iOS 17 on iPhone

4. Ensure you’re using the feature correctly

Sometimes, it may seem that the visual Live Voicemail feature is not working. However, it is not showing up as you don’t know how to use the feature properly. To see a live transcription of what the person on the other end is saying, you’ll need to tap the voicemail button and authenticate your identity using Face ID or Touch ID whenever you receive calls you cannot answer.

5. Check your iPhone’s cellular reception

Live Voicemail and even regular voicemail rely on your iPhone’s cellular data to work. Thus, if you face an error of voicemail not downloading on your iPhone, you must check the cellular reception. In case of connectivity issues, you may follow these steps to re-establish a connection.

  1. Open the Control Center on your iPhone.
  2. Tap and enable Airplane mode for a few seconds → Then turn it off.

Refresh cellular network using Airplane mode

6. Ensure call forwarding is turned off

Yet another reason why Live voicemail may not work for you could be because you have call forwarding turned on, which diverts your calls to another phone number. Here’s how you can ensure that call forwarding is turned off on your iPhone to avoid such issues:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Navigate to PhoneCall Forwarding.
  3. Toggle off Call Forwarding.

Toggle off Call Forwarding on iPhone

7. Disable Low Power mode

Even though using Low Power mode can help extend your iPhone’s screen on time, it disables several useful features like Live Voicemail that can put more strain on the battery. Hence, you should disable Low Power mode if you cannot use Live Voicemail on your iPhone.

  1. Go to Settings → Battery → Toggle off Low Power Mode.

To toggle off Low Power Mode

8. Check for carrier updates

In case you didn’t know, most cellular providers occasionally roll out carrier updates to help you get the latest and greatest features while ensuring stability. If you haven’t installed a carrier update in a while, you might want to do that and check if it helps you resolve the issue.

  1. Go to Settings → General → About.
  2. Tap Update if a carrier update is available.

    Check for carrier updates

9. Basic fixes

  • Check for software updates: If you use the iOS 17 Beta version and the visual voicemail stops working after an iOS update, upgrade to the stable version. Go to Settings → General → Software Update. Select Beta Updates → Choose Off. Now, tap Update Now.
  • Reset Network Settings: Issues with the network settings could also prevent Live Voicemail from working correctly. So, try to reset the network settings. Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone. Then tap Reset → Reset Network Settings and enter your iPhone’s passcode. Tap Reset Network Settings again to complete the process.
  • Erase all content and settings: If most solutions fail, the only sure-shot method to resolve issues and get Live Voicemail up and running on your iPhone is to perform a factory reset. This will erase all content stored on your iPhone and restore settings to their default.
  • Contact your carrier or Apple for support: If none of the solutions above could fix Live Voicemail, then contact your carrier to see if they can assist you.
Why I can’t see Live Voicemail on my iPhone?

The Live Voicemail is an iOS 17 feature. So, the caller and receiver should have installed iOS 17 on their iPhones to access it.

Wrapping up…

Live Voicemail can be helpful when you don’t want to be distracted by calls unless they’re about something important. You can conveniently glance at the transcription to decide if you want to address the call while the caller is still on the line or decline the call to contact them at your convenience.

All in all, it can be really inconvenient when Live Voicemail doesn’t work on your iPhone. But I hope the solutions in this troubleshooting guide helped you fix the error. If you’ve found this guide useful, don’t forget to let us know which solution worked out for you in the comments section below.

For a long time, Apple did not allow downloading large iOS updates through cellular/mobile data. Things changed with the introduction of 5G. Now, those who use iPhone 12 or later can easily download iOS 17 updates using cellular data.

In this guide, I’ll show you how you can download and install iOS 17.4.1 using cellular data. Additionally, I’ll also show you a workaround to download iOS updates on iPhones without 5G. Let’s get started.

Things to know before upgrading to iOS 17.4.1 through cellular data

  • You must ensure that you have access to a fast network with an appropriate cellular data plan.
  • Officially, Apple only allows iPhones with a 5G network to download updates over cellular/mobile data.
  • If you have a 4G iPhone, you can still download updates over cellular data by using a workaround.

How to install iOS 17.4.1 using cellular data on iPhone

If you have an iPhone that supports 5G (iPhone 12 or later), you can install iOS 17.4.1 over Cellular Data without employing any workarounds. All you need to change are these settings:

  1. Open Settings → Then, go to Cellular/Mobile Data.
  2. Turn on Cellular/Mobile Data → Tap Cellular/Mobile Data Options
  3. Tap Data Mode → Then, select Allow More Data on 5G.
On dual-SIM iPhones, you must select a SIM to get these options.

    Allow more 5G data

By following the steps mentioned above, you can remove the data cap limits on your iPhone and download iOS 17.4.1 like you would download any iOS update.

However, it’s essential to ensure you have enough data left on your cellular/mobile data plan before you proceed.

In case the steps mentioned above don’t work, you must check if your iPhone is using 4G instead of 5G. If you have a 5G compatible iPhone that’s using 4G, you must enable 5G from the Settings app.

Download and install iOS 17.4.1 using cellular data on iPhone without 5G

Even though Apple doesn’t allow non-5G iPhones to download iOS updates via cellular, there’s a workaround to overcome this restriction – change your iPhone’s date and time.

Since this isn’t a method recommended by Apple, success can’t be guaranteed. Here’s how it works:

  1. Open Settings on iPhone → Tap General.
  2. Select Date & Time → Toggle off Set Automatically.
  3. Tap the date displayed below the Time Zone.
  4. Then, move the date at least one month ahead.
  5. Now, go back to General → Tap Software Update.
  6. Select Download and Install to get the iOS update.

Setting Date and Time on an iPhone

Once the update is downloaded, head back to Date & Time and toggle on Set Automatically. You can now go ahead and start the installation procedure for iOS 17.4.1.

However, in case this method doesn’t work, and the Download and Install option still appears grey, you can easily update your iPhone manually using your Mac or PC.

Wrapping up…

Although downloading iOS 17.4.1 with cellular or mobile data requires specific settings and workarounds, following these steps can ensure a smooth update process. Remember to back up your iPhone beforehand and only use cellular data if Wi-Fi isn’t available to avoid exceeding your data plan.

If you have any questions, leave a comment below. We will try our best to resolve your query.

iOS 17.4.1 brings several performance improvements and security enhancements to the iPhone. However, sometimes, you might need to stop an iOS update while it’s still downloading if you think the new iOS version is unstable or you’re just fine with the version that’s currently installed.

In this detailed guide, I’ll explain how you can stop the iOS 17.4.1 update while it’s downloading. Plus, you’ll also learn how to turn off automatic updates on your iPhone. This way you can cancel the current update and even prevent future iOS updates from installing without your permission.

How to cancel iOS 17.4.1 update in progress

While Apple doesn’t provide a pause or stop button for updates, it’s still possible to cancel an iOS update that’s in progress. That is if you still haven’t started the installation process after downloading the update.

Performing an over-the-air iOS update usually involves downloading and installing the update. If you have just started downloading the update, you’re in luck; you can stop it.

But if you’ve started the installation, there’s no stopping it midway. You must downgrade your iOS after the update is complete.

With that out of the way, here’s the two-step process to cancel an iOS that’s already in progress:

Step 1: Stop the iOS update while it is downloading

Your iPhone needs an active internet connection to download the update from Apple’s server. So, you’ll need to disconnect your iPhone from the internet to stop the download as explained below:

  1. While the iOS update is downloading, open the Control Center.
  2. Enable Airplane Mode. The tile should turn orange when enabled.
  3. Make sure Wi-Fi is also disabled.

    Airplane mode, check for update

Once you toggle on Airplane Mode and disable Wi-Fi, the download will immediately pause as the connection is interrupted. You can verify the same by navigating to SettingsGeneralSoftware Update. Whatever you do, it’s crucial to keep the iPhone in Airplane Mode until the next step is completed.

Step 2: Delete the downloaded iOS update file

The next step in the process is to delete the downloaded software update files. This way, you can prevent the new iOS 17.4.1 update from continuing and free up storage on your iPhone.

  1. Go to SettingsGeneraliPhone Storage.
  2. Scroll down and tap the iOS update file → Tap Delete Update.
  3. Finally, tap Delete Update again to confirm your action.

Select the iOS update file, tap Delete update and confirm again by pressing Delete Update

Once the iOS update file is deleted, the update won’t be installed on your iPhone. Still, you may follow the steps below to verify the update has been terminated before using your iPhone again:

  1. Swipe down from the top-left corner to open the Control Centre → Turn off Airplane Mode
  2. Go to Settings →  GeneralSoftware Update to ensure that the page has reverted to the initial update screen. If not, you may perform the previous steps again.

The steps mentioned above will help you cancel iOS 17.4.1 from installing on your iPhone for the time being.

However, if you want to prevent the current and future iOS updates from installing without your permission, you must turn off Automatic Updates.

How to turn off automatic updates on iPhone

  1. Go to SettingsGeneralSoftware Update.
  2. Select Automatic Updates → Then, toggle off iOS updates.
You will see two iOS Updates toggles. You must toggle off both.

Go to General, select Software Update, tap on Automatic Updates and toggle off both iOS Updates option

Alternatively, instead of entirely turning off Automatic Updates on your iPhone, you can just toggle off iOS updates under the Automatically Install section.

This way, your iPhone can still auto-download new iOS update files whenever a suitable network becomes available, but they won’t be installed without your knowledge.

Signing off…

By following the steps in this guide, you’ll be able to regain control over your iPhone and decide when and if you want to install iOS 17.4.1.

Not only that, but apart from canceling public releases of iOS updates that are in progress, you can use the same steps to cancel Beta updates for iOS.

Due to the rise in cases related to short-sightedness or myopia, Apple has introduced a new Screen Distance feature in iOS 17. The feature prompts users to move the screen away when it’s held close to the eyes for extended periods.

While this feature has worked flawlessly for most users, a handful of users are unable to use Screen Distance after updating to iOS 17.4.1. Here are a few ways to fix it!

1. Check if your iPhone supports Screen Distance

Screen Distance is a new feature in iOS 17, which is only available for the following iPhone models:

  • iPhone 15 series
  • iPhone 14 series
  • iPhone 13 series
  • iPhone 12 series
  • iPhone 11 series
  • iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation or later)

2. Ensure Screen Distance is enabled

Screen Distance isn’t enabled by default in iOS 17. You must enable this feature from the Settings app:

  1. Go to SettingsScreen TimeScreen Distance.
  2. Toggle on Screen Distance.

    enable-screen-distance

Understand how Screen Distance works

Screen Distance utilizes the TrueDepth camera on your device to calculate how near or far away you are holding it in front of your face. If you hold your device closer than 12 inches (30 cm) to your face for extended periods, you will be prompted to hold your iPhone at arm’s length to reduce eyestrain.

After setting up Screen Distance, if you still haven’t encountered the Screen Distance prompt on your screen, it would mean that you’re holding your device at an appropriate distance from your face.

3. Clean Dynamic Island or notch

If Screen Distance is not working on your iPhone, you might want to ensure that the Dynamic Island or notch that houses the TrueDepth camera isn’t obstructed by dust or debris.

To do this, you may use a damp microfiber cloth to wipe your iPhone’s screen until it’s reasonably clean.

4. Remove case and screen protector

An improperly applied screen protector or a fancy case can also cover the TrueDepth camera on your iPhone, causing the Screen Distance feature to stop working.

If you think that’s causing the issue on your iPhone, you should remove the case and screen protector to see if that helps you.

5. Reset Face ID on your iPhone

If you’re still unable to use Screen Distance, resetting Face ID might help since both features rely on your device’s TrueDepth camera.

Here’s how you can quickly reset Face ID on your iPhone or iPad:

  1. Navigate to SettingsFace ID & Passcode.
You will need to enter your iPhone’s Passcode.
  2. Scroll down and tap Reset Face ID.

    reset-face-id
  3. Then, tap Set Up Face IDGet Started.

    set-up-face-id-again
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up Face ID again.

6. Disable Assistive Access on your iPhone

Assistive Access is a new accessibility feature in iOS 17 that offers large text labels and high-contrast buttons for a more simplified user interface.

While it’s useful, Assistive Access can interfere with several features like Screen Distance. So, if you have set up Assistive Access, you should consider disabling it to use Screen Distance optimally.

  1. While you’re in Assistive Access, triple-click the power button.
  2. Select Exit Assistive Access from the list that appears.
  3. Enter the Assistive Access passcode to exit the interface.

7. Update iOS

In case the previous solutions were unable to help you, there’s a possibility that you’ve run into a bug or glitch in iOS 17.4.1 that’s preventing Screen Distance from working on your iPhone.

In most instances, you should be able to fix such issues by installing the next software update with the relevant bug fixes.

  1. Navigate to Settings → General → Software Update.
  2. Tap Update Now if an update is available.

8. Reset all settings on your iPhone

Have you recently made any major changes in the Settings app on your device?

Many times, any unwanted changes you might have made in the Settings app can also cause some useful features to stop working for you. In such cases, it’s recommended that you reset all settings on your device.

  1. Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone.

Go to Settings then General Transfer or Reset iPhone
  2. Tap Reset → Reset All Settings.
  3. Enter your iPhone or iPad’s Passcode.

Tap Reset then Transfer or Reset iPhone
  4. Tap Reset All Settings again to complete the process.

9. Factory reset your iPhone

If resetting settings on your device didn’t help restore the Screen Distance feature, it’s recommended to perform a factory reset on your device to see if that does the trick.

Do note that performing a factory reset will remove all of your personal data or files and revert all settings to their default values.

  1. Navigate to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  2. Choose Erase All Content and Settings.

Erase All Content and Settings on iPhone
    ‍
  3. Tap Continue → type the iPhone Passcode. Then, you may follow the on-screen instructions once the automatic iCloud backup completes.

Tap on Continue and Add Passcode on iPhone

Contact Apple Support

If none of the solutions helped you resurrect the Screen Distance feature on your iPhone, the last thing you can do is reach out to Apple Support.

They’ll be able to diagnose your iPhone for potential software or hardware issues that could cause Screen Distance to stop working for you Inadvertently.

Wrapping up…

Whether you use Maps to find routes to the nearest café or simply want to track the location of your devices using Find My, you need Location Services for almost every activity on your iPhone. So, it’s frustrating when iPhone Location Services stops working unexpectedly.

In this guide, I will explain a handful of reasons why this issue might occur and provide practical solutions to fix Location Services not working in iOS 17.4.1.

Why are Location Services not working on my iPhone?

When Location Services starts acting up on your iPhone, you can’t use any apps that need your precise location to function. So, you can’t use Maps navigation, check the weather, share location, send Check-ins to your friends or family, order food, book cabs, and much more.

So, most of you iPhone functionalities get a hit. But why is this basic yet essential service not working all of a sudden? Some of the most common reasons for issues with Location Services include:

  • You’ve accidentally turned off Location Services in Settings.
  • Software bugs or glitches related to your apps or iOS 17.4.1.
  • You haven’t enabled precise location access for some apps.
  • Low battery and Low power mode restricting the service.
  • Incorrect date and time settings on iPhone.
  • Content and privacy restrictions blocking location access.

How to fix Location Services not working on iPhone in iOS 17.4.1

Now that you have a clear understanding of the issue let’s perform the troubleshooting. Follow the methods mentioned below:

1. Ensure that Location Services are enabled

Before you move on to advanced solutions, one of the first things you should do is ensure that the Location Services are enabled on your iPhone.

  1. Go to SettingsPrivacy & Security.
  2. Tap Location Services.
  3. Ensure that the toggle for Location Services is on.

Tap privacy & security, location services, toggle off location services in settings app

2. Restart the app in question

Often, most apps, including the ones that use Location Services, face minor technical glitches due to an overload of memory. However, this can be fixed simply by just closing and reopening the app. It will refresh the app cache and establish a new connection. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Just open the App Switcher and swipe up on the app in question to close it.

Force quit app from app switcher on iphone
  2. Then, Reopen the app to see if your issues are resolved.

3. Check if the app has Precise Location access

Many third-party apps on your iPhone require your Precise Location data to function correctly, especially Maps, food delivery, and cab rental apps. Hence, you must follow the steps below to check if the app has access to your Precise location.

  1. Go to SettingsPrivacy & Security.
  2. Tap Location Services.
  3. Select the app that is facing issues.
For me, it was Find My.
  4. Ensure that the Precise Location is toggled on.

Make sure Precise Location is enabled on iPhone

4. Check Date and Time settings

Inaccurate Date and Time settings can prevent your iPhone GPS from accessing the Location Services and interrupt the function. Therefore, it’s good practice to let the iPhone fetch the Date and Time data automatically from Apple servers.

  1. Go to SettingsGeneralDate & Time.
  2. Toggle on Set Automatically.

Fix Date and Time settings, go to Settings, navigate to General, select Date and Time, turn on the Set Automatically toggle

5. Check Content & Privacy Restrictions

Location services may cease to function if you’ve accidentally disabled them using the Content & Privacy Restrictions feature on your iPhone.

If you’re unsure about how you can re-enable Location Services, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to SettingsScreen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions.
If you have disabled the feature, you can safely skip to the next fix.
  2. Enter your Screen Time password if you’ve created one.
  3. Tap Location Services and enable the Location Services toggle.

Check Content and Privacy Restrictions on iPhone

6. Disable Low Data Mode and Low Power Mode

Have you enabled Low Data Mode and Low Power Mode to preserve your iPhone’s battery and restrict cellular data allowance? These both surely help. However, using them ceases the function of many utilities. Thus, they can prevent apps from accessing Location Services on your iPhone.

Therefore, you must disable Low Data and Low Power Mode on your iPhone.

  1. Go to SettingsCellular → Cellular Data Options.
  2. Tap Data Mode and deselect Low Data Mode.

Deselect Low Data Mode on iPhone
  3. Then, go back to SettingsBattery.
  4. Disable the Low Power Mode toggle.

Disable the Low Power Mode toggle

7. Reset Location and Privacy settings

In case you still can’t get the Location Services working on your iPhone, your best bet will be to reset the Location and Privacy settings to their default values. It will delete any customization you made to the settings and remove any faulty configuartion. Here’s how you can do this:

  1. Go to SettingsGeneralTransfer or Reset iPhone.
  2. Tap Reset → Reset Location and Privacy.

    Reset Location and Privacy settings
  3. Type the iPhone Passcode and follow the on-screen instructions.

8. Check for iOS updates

Software bugs or glitches in iOS 17.4.1 can also render some important features like Location Services unusable.

If you’re facing a similar issue, it’s good to check if Apple has issued a new iOS update that includes bug fixes to patch such issues.

  1. Go to SettingsGeneralSoftware Update.
  2. Tap Download and install if any update is available.

Also, if you using the beta iOS version, you may switch to the stable version to avoid potential bugs.

9. Contact Apple Support

If you’ve tried all the solutions mentioned above and Location services still don’t work on your iPhone, you should contact Apple Support and see if they can help you fix the issue over a call.

For a detailed inspection, you can schedule a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store. There, you can get the issue fixed by Apple-certified professionals or get your iPhone replaced.

Location Services on iPhone restored!

Thanks to these easy solutions, you should be able to quickly restore the Location Services on your iPhone with iOS 17.4.1 and track devices using Find My, check the weather, or do other things without hitches.

However, if you have any further queries, please let me know in the comments section.

Using the Search function in the Calendar app, you can easily check upcoming appointments or take a look at your past events. But for many users, the Calendar Search feature has suddenly stopped working after updating to iOS 17.4.1, leaving them aimlessly scrolling through events.

If you’re facing a similar issue, don’t worry! In this guide, I’ll provide solutions to fix the iPhone Calendar Search not working issue. Before delving into fixes, let’s explore potential reasons for this inconvenience.

Why is my iPhone Calendar Search not working?

In most cases, a single or a combination of many issues can lead to Calendar Search not working on iPhones. Therefore, it might not be possible to pinpoint the exact reason behind this annoying issue.

However, here are some potential reasons why the Calendar Search could not be working for you:

  • Unpatched bugs and glitches in the Calendar app or iOS 17.4.1.
  • Sync issues due to improper settings or an unstable internet connection.
  • Indexing issues or misconfigurations related to upcoming calendar events.
  • iCloud issues due to misconfigurations or server-related problems on Apple’s end.

How to fix iPhone Calendar Search not working

Here’s a comprehensive list of quick and effective solutions that can help you fix iPhone Calendar Search not working properly in iOS 17.4.1.

1. Force quit and relaunch Calendar app

The first thing you should try is to force close and relaunch the Calendar app. This will help you clear out temporary software glitches and bugs in the app.

  1. Open the App Switcher on your iPhone.
Swipe up and hold from the bottom of your screen.
  2. Find the Calendar app and swipe up to force close it.
Force quit Calendar app on iPhone
  3. Now, relaunch the Calendar app and see if the Calendar Search works.

2. Restart your iPhone

In case relaunching the app didn’t fix Calendar Search issues, you may want to restart your iPhone.

Restarting your iPhone will help eliminate potential glitches in iOS 17.4.1 and restore the Search functionality in the Calendar app. You may restart your iPhone using buttons or follow these quick steps in Settings:

  1. Navigate to Settings  General.
  2. Scroll down and tap Shut Down → Slide to power off.

    restart-iphone
  3. Wait for one minute → Hold the Side button to restart your iPhone.

3. Check your internet connection

Before moving to advanced troubleshooting methods, you might want to check whether your internet connection is the culprit. Often, internet-related issues can prevent Calendar events from syncing with the Calendar app and appearing in search.

You can easily rule out network-related issues by verifying your Internet connection’s stability. To do this, try running a quick Internet speed test on your iPhone.

In case your iPhone is not able to finish the speed test, you’ll need to turn on Airplane mode for a few seconds and disable it to refresh your iPhone’s cellular network. But if you’re connected over the Wi-Fi, you may restart the wireless router.

4. Disable and re-enable iCloud Calendar

iCloud Calendar makes it really easy to share Calendar events created on your iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro with the Calendar app on your iPhone.

However, the events won’t sync and show up for you in Calendar Search if you have accidentally turned off iCloud Calendar on your iPhone. Now, if iCloud Calendar is already enabled on your iPhone, then try disabling and re-enabling it.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the Apple ID banner with your name → Select iCloud.
Select iCloud in Apple ID banner on iPhone
  3. Select Show All → Then, select iCloud Calendar from the list of Apps using iCloud.
  4. Toggle on Use on this iPhone to enable iCloud Calendar synchronization.
Toggle on Use on this iPhone to enable iCloud Calendar
  5. If already enabled, toggle off Use on this iPhone → Tap Delete from my iPhone.
  6. Now, wait for at least a minute, and then toggle on Use on this iPhone.

Many users on Apple Discussions mentioned that this fix worked for them. However, if it doesn’t sort the issue for you, feel free to explore the alternative solutions provided below.

5. Check Apple’s System Status page

iCloud Calendar needs to communicate with Apple servers to retrieve your existing calendar details. However, in case the iCloud Calendar servers are offline for maintenance, your iPhone Calendar search may stop working properly.

To verify iCloud Calendar’s current server status, you may visit Apple’s System Status page. If you see a green dot next to the iCloud Calendar, the servers are working fine, and something else is causing the issue.

But, if you see a yellow or red status, the servers are offline, and you must wait till Apple fixes the issue.

6. Ensure all Calendar groups are enabled

If you have deselected some of your Calendar groups, then you might not be able to find the events you are searching for.

To fix this issue, you need to ensure that all Calendar groups are enabled.

  1. Open the Calendar app.
  2. Tap the Calendars option found at the bottom.
  3. Next to iCloud, select Show All to enable all calendar groups. Once selected, the option will change to Hide All.
  4. Tap Done to begin viewing all your Calendars.
Ensure all Calendar groups are enabled

7. Enable Calendar sync for all events

For instances where you’re able to search for recent events but face issues when searching for older events, you must check the Calendar sync settings.

Enabling Calendar sync for all events ensures that you can search for events even older than six months. Here’s how you can do this:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Then, navigate to CalendarSync.
  3. Select All Events from the list.
Go to Calendar, select Sync and tap on All Events

7. Enable Calendar sync for all accounts

If you don’t use iCloud Calendar, you can choose which email accounts on your iPhone can sync events with the native Calendar app.

However, if the search function in the iPhone Calendar is not working, it’s possible that Calendar sync for the account is disabled. To ensure this isn’t the case, you must enable Calendar sync for all important accounts.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Then, navigate to CalendarAccounts.
Tap on Accounts in Calendar Settings
  3. Select your account → Toggle on Calendars.
Choose email to sync events with Calendar app

9. Check for iOS Updates

It seems like the iPhone Calendar search stopped working for some users only after updating to iOS 17.4.1. So, it’s possible that this version has some bugs which led to this issue. In that case, Apple will promptly release an update to fix this.

So, make sure to update your iPhone to an iOS version that releases after iOS 17.4.1 and hope it has the relevant bug fixes.

  1. Navigate to Settings → General → Software Update.
Tap on general, software update on iPhone
  2. Tap Update Now if a software update is available.

Sometimes, temporary issues with your iPhone’s file system can prevent your existing Calendar events from appearing in the Calendar Search.

If you think this is what’s causing the issue on your iPhone, you can easily resolve this by re-indexing Calendar search from Siri & Search as shown in these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Now, navigate to Siri & SearchCalendar.
  3. Toggle off Show Content in Search → After a few seconds, toggle on Show Content in Search.

Go to Siri and Search, select Calendar and toggle off Show Content in Search

11. Ensure iCloud has enough storage

Often, insufficient iCloud storage can prevent your Calendar events from syncing and showing up in Search. Therefore, you must ensure that you have enough storage available.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the Apple ID banner with your name → Select iCloud.
  3. Now, tap Manage Account Storage to access additional details.

Check if you have sufficient iCloud storage

In case you’re running out of iCloud storage, you can subscribe to iCloud+ to get additional storage. However, if you don’t want to pay for additional subscriptions, you can refer to our guide on how to free up iCloud storage. Once you do that, the search function in the iPhone Calendar app will work.

12. Reset all iPhone settings

Often, misconfigured settings can cause unusual issues with Search in iPhone Calendar. To fix that, you must Reset All Settings on your iPhone. This will undo the changes and revert all settings to their default state while leaving your data untouched. Here’s how you can do this:

  1. Navigate to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone.

Go to Settings then General Transfer or Reset iPhone
  2. Tap Reset → Reset All Settings.
  3. Enter your iPhone’s lockscreen Passcode.

Tap Reset then Transfer or Reset iPhone
  4. Tap Reset All Settings again to complete the process.

Contact Apple Support

If nothing else works, you may contact Apple Support as a last resort to fix the iPhone Calendar Search not working properly. Certified Apple Support technicians can provide assistance over a phone call or help schedule a Genius Bar appointment at a nearby Apple Store to diagnose and resolve the issue.

Wrapping up…

While the exact reason behind iPhone Calendar search issues can vary from one iPhone to another, a combination of various troubleshooting methods in this guide should help you restore the feature.

Contact Posters in iOS 17 offer a fun way to create digital contact cards for yourself and your contacts using images, filters, monograms, and Memojis. Although this new feature in iOS 17 seems great, it isn’t perfect, and many users have reported that Contact Posters are not working on their iPhones.

If you’re experiencing something similar on your iPhone, don’t worry! I’ve put together a list of quick and easy ways to diagnose why your Contact Poster is not working in iOS 17 and get it back in working order.

1. Check if your iPhone supports this feature

One of the first things you should check if Contact Posters aren’t working for you is if your iPhone supports them. Contact Posters are only available on iPhone models that can run iOS 17, which includes the following devices:

  • iPhone 15 series
  • iPhone 14 series
  • iPhone 13 series
  • iPhone 12 series
  • iPhone 11 series
  • iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation or later)

If you aren’t sure how to find out what iPhone model you have, check out our guide for an easy explanation.

Note

Even if your iPhone is compatible with iOS 17, the person on the other end also needs to own an iPhone model that supports iOS 17 for Contact Posters to work seamlessly.

2. Force close and relaunch the Phone App

One of the simplest solutions you can employ to fix any app-related issues on your iPhone is to force close and relaunch the app.

Here’s how you can force close the Phone app to possibly repair Contact Posters.

  1. Open the App Switcher on your iPhone.
  2. Then, swipe up on the Phone app to close it.

Force close and relaunch the Phone app
  3. Now, relaunch the Phone app to see if Contact Posters are working.

If your iOS 17 Contact Posters are still not working, you may need to give your iPhone a quick restart.

3. Force restart your iPhone

If the preliminary fixes didn’t help resolve the issue, you should force restart your iPhone. This will help you eliminate glitches that can prevent Contact Posters from working correctly. However, if you don’t know how to do this, you should refer to our in-depth guide on how to hard reboot an iPhone.

As a quick set of steps for iPhone models 8 and later,

  1. On the left side of the device, press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
  2. Next, press and immediately release the Volume Down button.
  3. Finally, from the device’s right side, press and hold the Side button.
  4. Release the Side button when you see the Apple logo on your iPhone screen.

4. Make sure Name & Photo Sharing is enabled

Another possible reason why Contact Posters may fail to appear on your iPhone could be that the user might have accidentally disabled Name & Photo Sharing for their Contact Poster. You see, this option allows users to pick whether or not they want to share their Contact Poster with everyone.

If you can’t see Contact posters for your contacts, shoot them a text asking them to enable Name & Photo sharing on their iPhones. Meanwhile, if you can see their Contact Poster but they can’t see yours, you might want to verify if you’ve turned on Name & Photo Sharing for your Contact Poster.

  1. Launch the Phone app on your iPhone.
  2. Go to the Contacts tab → Tap your contact card.
  3. Now, tap on Contact Photo & Poster.
  4. Check if Name & Photo Sharing is toggled on.

Turn on Name and Photo Sharing in Phone app on iPhone
  5. Then, under Share Automatically, select Contacts Only.

Make sure to Select Contacts Only on iPhone Phone app

5. Check if Show My Caller ID is Enabled

Caller ID is the name or number that shows up on a recipient’s iPhone whenever you call them. However, a handful of carriers offer a way to hide your caller ID so that the recipient can’t see your number and identify you.

If you’ve disabled Caller ID on your iPhone, Contact Posters may fail to work for you. Here’s how you can ensure this is not the case with your iPhone:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Now, tap on PhoneShow My Caller ID.
  3. Check if Show My Caller ID is toggled on.

Show My Caller ID is Enabled on iPhone

6. Update apps that support Contact Posters

Apart from the default Phone app on your iPhone, many third-party apps like WhatsApp and Skype also support Contact Posters. If Contact Posters aren’t working with third-party apps on your iPhone, you should update the apps you’re using to ensure that they have been optimized to run on iOS 17.

  1. Open the App Store → Tap your profile picture on the top right.
  2. Scroll down and see if an update for the app in question is available.
  3. If an update is available, tap Update.

7. Remove and create a new Contact Poster

Are Contact Posters working as expected on your iPhone, but your contacts complain that they can’t see your Contact Poster? In this case, you can try to remove your existing Contact Poster and create a new one to see if that works out.

  1. Launch the Phone app on your iPhone.
  2. Go to the Contacts tab → Tap on your contact card.
  3. Now, tap Contact Photo & Poster Edit.

Edit the Contact Photo and Poster in iPhone Phone app
  4. Swipe up on the Contact Poster → Tap Delete.

    Delete Contact Poster on iPhone
  5. Once you delete the Contact Poster, tap Create NewPoster.

Tap Create New and Poster in Phone app
  6. Choose your preferred option to design a Contact Poster → Tap Done.
  7. Tap Continue to confirm the changes and activate the Contact Poster.

Create New Contact Poster on iPhone

You can refer to our guide to learn more about setting up and customizing iOS 17 Contact Posters.

8. Install the latest iOS update

Bugs in iOS can also prevent Contact Posters from working for you. If you think that’s the case with your iPhone, follow these steps to check if Apple has issued a software update with relevant bug fixes to resolve the issue.

  1. Go to Settings → General → Software Update.
  2. Tap Update Now if an update is available.

Click on Update now for Software Update

9. Reset all Content & Settings

If the previous fixes didn’t work for you, your best bet would be to perform a factory reset on your iPhone. This will delete the user data and preferences to restore your iPhone to factory settings and fix any issues along the way.

  1. Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  2. Choose Erase All Content and Settings.

Erase All Content and Settings on iPhone
    ‍
  3. Tap Continue → type the iPhone Passcode. Then you may follow the on-screen instructions once the automatic iCloud backup completes.

Do you need to carry an umbrella today? Will you need a jacket, or will a short-sleeve shirt suffice? These questions can be answered by a quick glance at your iPhone with the Weather app—as long as it works.

If your iPhone’s Weather app isn’t working after installing iOS 17.4.1, it can really rain on your parade. However, we know of a few quick, surefire fixes that will get it up and running again.

Why is the Weather App not working on my iPhone?

You go to check the daily weather as you’ve done hundreds of times before, only this time around it just isn’t working.

This can be the result of a number of issues. However, there are a few things to check first and foremost:

  • Do you have location services enabled?
  • Is your Wi-Fi or cellular connection strong enough to update the Weather app?
  • Is Background App Refresh enabled on your iPhone?

If you answered “no” to any of the above questions, you probably have your answer right off the bat. We go in-depth into each of these solutions later in the guide, so keep reading if you need to know how to fix any of these issues.

How to fix Weather app not working on iPhone or iPad

1. Force quit the Weather app

Sometimes, temporary software issues on your iPhone can cause apps like Weather to suddenly stop working for you. In most cases, you can quickly resolve such issues by force quitting and relaunching the Weather app.

  1. Open the App Switcher on your iPhone by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.
  2. Swipe up on the Weather app to close it.

    force-close-weather-app
  3. Then, reopen the Weather app to see if it’s working correctly.

If it’s still not working, it’s worth checking the System Status page to make sure it’s not a widespread issue, as Apple’s forums have shown it to be in the past.

2. Check Apple’s System Status Page

The servers for the Weather app on Apple’s end may be experiencing an outage or undergoing maintenance, temporarily stopping the app from working on your iPhone.

If you want to check the server status for the Weather app or any other Apple services, head over to the Apple System Status Page. Green means good to go, red means the service is down.

If everything looks green on Apple’s end, you may want to check your internet or cellular data connection.

3. Check your internet connection

The Weather app relies on an active internet connection to fetch weather data from Apple. Technical issues with your Wi-Fi or cellular connection may cause the app or widget to not work or load the latest data on your iPhone.

Firstly, check the status bar and make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi or cellular connection with more than one bar. If you do, and you can use other internet-reliant services without issue, there’s another problem at hand.

However, if you notice a weak connection, you can restart your internet router to try to improve your Wi-Fi or move to a different location for cellular data.

4. Disable your VPN

Using a VPN to safeguard your data can sometimes interfere with the Apple Weather app’s ability to fetch data. To prevent this, you can try toggling off the VPN on your iPhone.

  1. If you’ve configured the VPN manually, go to Settings → toggle off VPN.
  2. For a third-party service, open the VPN app → tap Disconnect.
‍ Ensure that VPN is turned off on iPhone

If this wasn’t the issue, or you’re not using a VPN, make sure location services are enabled for the Weather app specifically.

5. Check if Location Services are enabled

Apple’s Weather app constantly needs access to your iPhone’s location data to detect your region and display helpful information. However, the Weather app may fail to do so if you’ve accidentally disabled location services on your iPhone.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Privacy & Security Location Services.

Go to Settings then Privacy & Security then Tap Location Services
  2. Select the Weather app.
  3. Select Always → Toggle on Precise Location.

    enable-location-access-for-weather

With Precise Location data enabled, your Weather app should start working again. If you already had this setting ticked, Background App Refresh may be the culprit.

6. Enable Background App Refresh

The Weather app must keep running in the background to fetch the latest weather updates and work as expected.

To ensure the Weather app can run in the background, follow the steps below to check if Background App Refresh is enabled on your iPhone.

  1. Launch SettingsGeneral.
  2. Choose Background App Refresh.
  3. Tap Background App Refresh again.
  4. Now, choose from one of these options:
    • Wi-Fi: If you want apps to refresh using Wi-Fi only, select the Wi-Fi option.
    • Wi-Fi & Mobile Data: By default, Wi-Fi & Mobile Data is selected.

If the Weather app still is not working on your iPhone, it may need a full restart.

7. Hard reboot your iPhone

If nothing has worked so far, try force restarting your iPhone to see if that does the trick. The tried and true method of “turning it off and on again” has stuck around for so many years for a reason: it works more than you’d expect.

On iPhones running iOS 16 or later,

  1. Press and release the Volume Up button
  2. Press and release the Volume Down button
  3. Then, hold the power button until the Apple logo shows up.

However, if you own an older model, refer to our guide on how to force restart any iPhone.

8. Allow the Weather app to use cellular data

If you’re trying to use the Weather app over cellular data, but it just isn’t working, make sure you can access other data-reliant features like Safari.

If you can, the Weather app itself may have cellular data disabled. Here’s how to enable it:

  1. Open Settings → Tap Cellular.
  2. Toggle on Weather.

    enable-cellular-data-for-weather-app

Is the Apple Weather app on your iPhone still not working? If so, try exiting Low Data and Low Power mode before giving it another shot.

8. Disable Low Data and Low power mode

Low Power and Low Data Mode can help reduce your iPhone’s battery and cellular data consumption. However, using them can prevent the Weather app and widget from updating and loading accurate data. So, disable these settings to see if that helps resolve the issue.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Navigate to Battery → Toggle off Low Power Mode.

Disable the Low Power Mode toggle
  3. Then, navigate to Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options.
  4. Tap Data Mode → Disable Low Data Mode.

Deselect Low Data Mode on iPhone

At this point, if the Apple Weather app still is not loading, there are only a few other problems you could be having. The next step is to try adding your location manually.

9. Manually add your current location

If your Weather app or widget does not show your current location, location settings may be the issue.

You can quickly resolve this problem by manually adding your current location to the app and widget so it can accurately detect your current location.

  1. Open the Weather app → Tap the hamburger menu.
  2. Tap the three-dot icon → Select Edit List.
  3. Search and select your current location.

    manually-add-location-in-weather-app

Once you manually select your current location in the Weather app, follow the steps below to do the same for the Weather widget.

  1. Tap and hold the Weather widget on the Home Screen.
  2. Tap Edit Widget.
You’ll see Edit “Weather” If the widget is in a Smart stack
  3. Select Location → Search and choose your current location.

    manually-add-location-in-weather-widget

10. Remove and add the Weather widget again

If the solutions mentioned above can’t get the Weather widget working, try removing and adding the Weather widget again to see if that helps resolve the issue.

  1. Tap and hold the Weather widget on the Home Screen.
  2. Tap Remove widgetRemove.

    remove-the-weather-widget
  3. Tap and hold any empty area on the Home Screen.
  4. Tap the plus icon on the top left → Search for the Weather widget.
  5. Select a Weather widget of your choice → Tap Add Widget.

    Add the weather widget

11. Reinstall the Weather app

If the problem persists even after trying all other fixes, try reinstalling the Weather app to remove any temporary bugs or glitches.

  1. Tap and hold the Weather app on the Home Screen.
  2. Now, tap Remove App  Delete App  Delete.

    uninstall-the-weather-app
  3. Open the App Store → Go to the Search tab → Search for Weather.
  4. Tap the blue cloud icon beside the Weather app’s icon to install it.

    re-install-weather-app

12. Reset Location and Privacy Settings

If you’re still unable to use the Weather app or widget after trying all other fixes, resetting your device’s Location and Privacy settings is the last thing that might help you resolve this issue once and for all.

  1. Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  2. Tap Reset → Reset Location and Privacy.

    Reset Location and Privacy settings
  3. Type the iPhone Passcode and follow the on-screen instructions.

Other basic fixes worth trying

  • Update to the latest version of iOS: Bugs in outdated iOS may prevent the weather app or its widget from working correctly. Update your iPhone to the newest version of iOS after iOS 17.4.1 to ensure you have all the necessary patches to prevent such annoying software issues.
  • Reset all iPhone settings: Unwanted changes made to the Settings on your device can cause some valuable features to break. You may need to factory reset your iPhone to resolve these issues.
  • Contact Apple for support: If you can’t solve the problem by yourself, you may want to contact the professionals at Apple for technical assistance. They can help you troubleshoot the problem and suggest ways to fix it.
  • Switch to a third-party weather app: If you frequently keep running into issues with the default Weather app, you may switch to a more reliable one. Refer to our list of the best weather apps for iPhone and iPad to find one that fits your needs.
Why is the Lock Screen weather widget not updating on my iPhone?

There are several reasons why the Lock Screen weather widget might not update on your iPhone. However, you can fix this issue quickly by turning off the Depth Effect for wallpapers or removing and re-adding the weather widget.

Do I need to share my location for the Weather app to work?

Yes, Apple needs your location data for the Weather app to properly update and provide you with the correct information. Make sure you’ve enabled Precise Location settings.

Wrapping up…

It can be really annoying when your iPhone’s Weather app or widget fails to do its job. However, with the quick solutions mentioned in this guide, you can quickly determine the exact cause of the issue and fix it in iOS 17.4.1. While using your Mac for regular activities, you might often come across images you wish to save and use later. Whether it’s for drawing inspiration, completing ongoing assignments, or simply personalizing your desktop background, learning how to save images on Mac is crucial. Fortunately, the process is simple, and there are multiple ways to do it.

In this guide, I’ll explain how to save images from a website and native apps like Mail and Messages. I’ll also show you some browser extensions that should make saving images from the web easy. So, why wait? Let’s start saving!

1. Save an image on your Mac by right-clicking

This is the easiest way to save pictures from websites on a Mac.

  1. You can just right-click on the image → Select the Save Image As option.
Right-click on image and select Save Image As option
  2. Optionally, you can rename the image by clicking the Save As box.
  3. From the drop-down menu next to Where, select the desired location → Click Save.

Not only that, if you’re doing this inside Safari, you also get the option to Add Image to Photos, letting you add an image to the iCloud Photo library.

If the website you are on doesn’t show the Save Image As option, don’t worry. You can use the third-party browser extension method explained below to save such pictures.

2. Use drag and drop to save a picture on Mac

Another easy way to save images is to use Mac’s drag-and-drop functionality. You can drag an image from one window or app to another.

  1. First, ensure your source and destination windows or apps are open on Mac.
  2. Now, simply click the image and drag it to the desired window or app.
  3. When you see a green + sign in the destination, drop the image there.
Click the image and drag it to the desired window and then drop

3. Take screenshot to save image on Mac

In case you don’t want to go through the hassle of saving images manually, you can quickly take a screenshot on your Mac and save the image directly on the Desktop.

  1. Press and hold Command + Shift + 4 keys simultaneously on the keyboard.
Once you press these keys, the mouse pointer will turn into a crosshair (+).
  2. Drag the crosshair (+) to select the area of the screen you want to capture.
You may press the Esc (Escape) key to cancel taking the screenshot.
  3. Then, release the mouse or the trackpad to capture the screenshot.
To view the image, click the thumbnail at the bottom right of the screen.
Take a screenshot of the image you want to save by using command + shift + 4 shortcut key

The only downside of this method is that you may need to cut the screenshots after capturing them to remove unnecessary elements, and the resolution of the original image won’t be preserved.

4. Use third-party browser extensions

While the first three methods can help you save images from the web, some websites may not allow you to download images at all or only allow you to download images in unsupported file formats like webp or avif.

Luckily, third-party browser extensions can help you overcome this issue. Additionally, these extensions can also help you download images from all websites as either a PNG or JPG file.

If you’re using a Chromium-based web browser like Google Chrome, Brave, or Microsoft Edge, you can install the free Save images as Type extension available on the Chrome Web Store.

On the other hand, if you’re using Safari, you can get the Save images as Type extension from the App Store for $2.99.

5. Save images from an external storage device on Mac

Saving images on your Mac from an external device like an SSD/HDD, USB flash drive, SD Card, or smartphone is just as easy. It is especially useful if you have lots of photos or albums you want to save on your Mac.

  1. Connect an external USB drive or SD Card to your Mac.
  2. Open Finder → Select the external device from the sidebar.
  3. Locate and select the images you want to save on your Mac.
  4. Now, right-click on the selected images → Then, select Copy.
You can also use the Command + C shortcut to copy items.
Open Finder, Select external device from sidebar, Select the image you want to save, Right-click on selected image and then select Copy
  5. Right-click inside a folder on your Mac → Select Paste Item.
You can also use the Command + V shortcut to paste items.
Right inside any folder on Mac and select Paste Item

6. Save images from other native apps on Mac

The previous methods should help you save images from the web or external devices. However, there are also different methods for saving or downloading photos from other native apps on your Mac.

Here’s how to save images from the Mail, Messages, and Photos apps on Mac.

Save an image from Messages

Select Copy to save image in folder
  5. Now, open a folder in FinderRight-click → Select Paste Item.
