How did I decide on the best web browsers for Mac?

My colleagues here at iGeeksBlog are tech experts who are passionate about all things Apple. Despite that, most of them don’t have Safari as their go-to browser.

That led me to ask Safari users about their reasons to stick with it and others about their reasons to pick alternatives such as Firefox, Brave, Chrome, Edge, and so on.

I gathered information from their experience, used about 10 browsers on my MacBook Air M1, and then compiled this list of the 8 best web browsers for Mac in 2024.

What you will see below is a result of countless hours of testing, in-depth research, and years of first-hand experience. Additionally, to prepare the order of the browsers, I took into account various factors such as speed, efficiency, features, privacy, ease of use, appearance, updates, security, and more.

Each browser recommendation caters to a particular type of user. So, you can not only trust this review but also be sure to find a browser that perfectly fits your day-to-day usage.

What are the best web browsers for Mac in 2024?

1. Edge – AI integration, low memory consumption, simplicity

This might come as a surprise, but Microsoft had been working silently to improve its browser – Edge. When they were ready, they launched it with a bang. Now, with the ChatGPT and Copilot integration, it is one of the most feature-rich and stable browsers on the market.

This browser has features you didn’t know you needed. For example, I use Edge to generate images using the Image Creator tool – something for which I used to heavily rely on graphic designers. The only caveat is you need to sign in. After that, you can enter your prompt and just watch the magic unfold.

Further, taking inspiration from Chrome, Edge now provides built-in access to other Microsoft tools such as One Drive, Skype, Calendar, Outlook, and more.

Another feature that blew my mind is the Split screen. Yes, you heard it. You can now browse two things simultaneously in the same tab, side by side! You don’t need to switch windows.

Apart from that, you can color code Tab groups and use an advanced reader mode to avoid ads without using any ad-blockers. You can even make the browser read the content aloud.

That’s not all; there is a built-in PDF editor as well. This small place won’t be enough to list down all the features of Edge, but you get the point. The excess of features might confuse some new users, but trust me, once you get used to Edge, it will become your default browser.

It’s safe to say that with an improved browser (Edge) and search engine (Bing), Microsoft is all set to take on the browser market dominated by Google Chrome.

2. Safari – Fast, no-nonsense, secure browser for Mac

Earlier, many Mac users used Safari to only download another browser. However, that trend is changing. A lot more people prefer Safari. That’s because Apple has made some noticeable improvements to the browser with the recent macOS Sonoma update. In fact, Safari was the most improved app from the update.

You can now create separate Safari profiles for different users, use different search engines for regular and Private browsing, lock Private tabs, disallow websites from tracking you, and more.

All of the above were added to existing unique features such as Tab Groups, the ability to sync website settings, and the likes.

However, Safari’s limited support for extensions might be a huge dealbreaker for some. That being said, if you don’t use a browser for anything beyond normal surfing, shopping, and doing the basics, Safari is the ideal choice.

This browser comes installed by default on your Mac

3. Chrome – Easy-to-use, access to Google services

I don’t think I need to write a lot about Chrome since it is the go-to option for many and has the largest market share among browsers for Mac and PC. I still remember the day I unboxed my Mac. After booting it up, I launched Safari, downloaded Chrome, and set the latter as my default browser.

Chrome has influenced me so much over the last many years that it is almost unimaginable to even consider a new Mac browser, and there are many reasons for that.

Chrome supports a wide range of extensions, Google services, and now has a dedicated Password Manager. The last one’s my favorite. I don’t use a password manager app anymore. All my login credentials are stored and easily accessible in Chrome. To view my saved passwords, all I need to do is provide my fingerprint.

There’s also a nice little Google feature called Passkeys. It allows me to access my saved history, preferences, and login credentials while using Chrome on any new device!

Unfortunately, Chrome is a hacker’s paradise and has often been the subject of leaked user data. If you are a privacy-conscious person, Chrome is not a good choice. But if you are ready to let Google know your browsing history, you can go ahead with it.

4. Firefox – Reduced loading time, no trackers

While Firefox’s glory days are history, it is still one of the best web browsers for Mac. Firefox has always been at the forefront of bringing new features, which competitors eventually adapt.

One such feature is the introduction of add-ons to the browser. Another is the new Pocket feature next to the address bar; it lets you save websites for later viewing with just one click.

Further, Firefox is one of the most secure web browsers for Mac if you are fed up with major tech giants trying to track your activities and sell your data. You might be happy to learn that Firefox is managed by an open-source organization with user data protection as a top priority.

Apart from protecting user data, there aren’t many stand-out features that can force users to switch to this browser. Also, some users have complained about the high RAM usage of Firefox.

5. Vivaldi – Highly customizable, built-in ad blocker, abundant features

I liked Vivaldi mainly because of how beautiful it looks. Vivaldi has two primary areas of focus: privacy and customization. You will get granular levels of control over the browsing experience with Vivaldi. While it uses the Chromium engine at the core, it differs from the rest with data protection features.

With Chrome and other browsers, you need an extension to block ads. Vivaldi does it by default. Once you download and launch the browser, you get to choose what you want to block – trackers, ads, or both. You can also import bookmarks, search history, passwords and other preferences to Vivaldi – so that you can start from where you left your previous browser.

Like Opera, Vivaldi has a sidebar that provides various options such as downloads, bookmarks, history, and innovative features. Apart from that, Vivaldi also comes with a built-in Notes feature, which allows you to quickly jot down information and even add screenshots to it without leaving the browser.

There is also support for tab groups and stacking them on two levels in the menu bar. If that’s not enough, Vivaldi also offers further options at the bottom of the page, such as screenshots, a slider-based zoom adjuster, turning off images and videos on a page, and even a comprehensive list of page actions.

We’re not done yet. Vivaldi also comes with a built-in client for Mail, Calendar, Translate, and much more. Like some other feature-rich browsers on this list, the excessive inclusion of features might confuse new users.

6. Brave – No ads, positive word-of-mouth

Brave has gotten decent recognition from the tech community thanks to its similarity to Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers. It comes with inbuilt features such as an ad blocker, anti-tracker tools, and a password manager.

A large part of Brave’s popularity comes from securing the browsing experience for users by not collecting their data. Some might argue that you can get Brave’s features by installing extensions in other browsers. But that’s the whole point – Brave reduces the necessity to install extensions.

Content creators might not like Brave because it blocks ads and reduces their revenue. Also, for a regular user, there’s not much special about Brave apart from the ad-free and crypto experience. It’s a browser designed purely for tech nerds.

7. Opera – Fancy UI, free VPN and ad-blocker

Like Chrome and Microsoft Edge, Opera browser is built on the famous Chromium platform. As a result, it shares similar features and performance but has a different UI and offers valuable tools.

One of the most prominent features of Opera browser is its sidebar, where you can get shortcuts to various tools and popular apps such as Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter, and Instagram. There’s also an option to send webpages directly to their iPhone using My Flow.

Additionally, Opera also provides users with privacy tools, such as ad blockers and even a free VPN, that make browsing more secure. Finally, since it is built on the same platform as Chrome, Opera is compatible with all those extensions and themes that are compatible with the former.

In fact, it also has a feature similar to Safari’s Tab groups, with many customization options. However, because of so many features, the browser is a bit cluttered, and not everyone might like it.

Also, most of its app integrations are provided by third-party developers, so chances are your data might get shared.

8. DuckDuckGo for Mac – Privacy personified

Privacy has been at the center of this discussion. So, how can we not talk about DuckDuckGo? Apart from offering a search engine, DDG also has its own browser for Mac! As one might guess, the primary intention of this browser is also to prevent tracking and collection of user data.

It uses the same WebKit engine as Safari but offers a more streamlined experience where users can quickly find the content they want. Users also get additional features such as password management and bookmarks. And when it comes to features, that’s all you get.

You must pay the price of sacrificing features to get privacy and security in the virtual world.

Why is Safari not working on my Mac?

Before getting into the fixes, here’s a look at the major culprits behind the Safari not working on Mac issue.

• Software glitches that came with macOS update.
• The website you are trying to access is down for maintenance or other issues.
• Your Mac might not have a stable internet connection.
• Heavy accumulation of cookies or cache.
• Viruses from plugins or extensions.

How to fix Safari not working on Mac

Here are some effective troubleshooting steps to fix Safari if it’s not working on your Mac.

1. Reload the webpage

Since Safari is not loading webpages on Mac after the update, you can start fixing it by reloading the webpage you are currently on. To reload: Press Cmd (⌘) + R.

Also, to ensure the problem is not with one particular website, try accessing another web page on Safari.

Alternatively, click View from the menu bar and select Reload Page. If neither is working, ensure you have a stable internet connection and look at other fixes.

2. Force Quit Safari

If Safari is frozen or not loading, try to force quit the app and see if that helps.

Once done, reopen the app, and it will automatically continue from where you left off.

3. Check and Reset Network Settings

If some bugs have fiddled with the default settings, even that may stop Safari from working.

To solve that, you can reset the network settings on your Mac and see if you are still facing the issue.

4. Turn off VPN

If you are using a VPN on your Mac, it might stop you from accessing geo-restricted websites. So, it would be wise to turn off the VPN and re-check if you can access the desired website in Safari.

Go to Apple menu → System Settings → Pick VPN in the sidebar → Toggle off VPN.

If you are using a third-party VPN app for your Mac, you might need to open the app and disconnect the service.

Then, retry using Safari. If this doesn’t fix the issue, proceed towards other fixes.

5. Try using a Private window

As mentioned before, the problem might be with certain websites. Interestingly, you can access some of the websites flawlessly when opened in a private window.

To open a private window in Safari, use Cmd (⌘) + Shift + N.

6. Give your Mac a quick restart

With a quick Mac restart, you might be able to solve the Safari not working issue.

Click Apple menu → Restart → Click Restart again to confirm.

7. Delete Safari History, Cache, and Cookies

Have you ever wished to erase some memories in life to start afresh?

While it’s not entirely possible in life, you can clear cache, history, and cookies on Safari on Mac. This will help load your web pages quickly.

That’s not all. You can further clear other unwanted files from Safari using Finder. Here’s how:

1. Open Finder → click the Go option from the menu bar.
2. Choose Go to Folder.
   
   
3. Now enter/paste the following: ~/Library/Safari.
   
   
4. Now, delete the files History.db and LastSession.plist.
   
   

You can use this to clean up the corrupted Safari PLIST files and database. Don’t worry; Safari will eventually regenerate these files. Clearing these files will also remove what’s making Safari not work on Mac after the update.

8. Disable Safari Extensions

While you downloaded them to improve your browsing experience, some corrupted extensions might be the reason Safari does not work on your Mac after the macOS Sonoma update.

1. Launch Safari → click Safari in the menu bar → go to Settings.
2. Click Extensions → disable extensions by unchecking them.
3. To uninstall these extensions, press delete.

9. Enable JavaScript

This is a solution that often goes under the radar. Certain websites need JavaScript to load properly.

To enable it, go to Safari Settings → Security → Check Enable JavaScript.

10. Disable iCloud Private Relay

Enabling iCloud Private Relay can mask your IP address and make it hard for you to access certain websites.

If you trust the website, try disabling Private Relay and accessing it again.

To do so, go to Apple menu → Click System Settings → Pick your Apple ID → Select iCloud → Click Private Relay → Toggle off Private Relay.

11. Delete Preference files 

As one can guess, Safari’s preference files contain information regarding all the settings and changes you have made in the browser. It might be why Safari is not working on Mac after the update. To solve that, you can simply clear it:

1. Quit Safari if it’s running.
2. Launch Finder.
3. Hold the Option key and hit the Go menu.
4. Choose Library.
   You can also use Shift + Command + L
   
   
5. Navigate to Containers → Safari → Data → Library → Safari.
   Even if you see multiple Safari files, only one will have the proper path.
   
   
6. Delete all the files that end with the following extensions:
   • db
   • db-shm
   • db-wal
     
     

12. Flush your DNS cache on Mac

Sometimes, adding multiple Domain Name Systems (DNS) can cause issues with Safari.

So, clear the DNS cache and see if the issue is solved.

13. Login using Safe mode 

Have you ever heard of playing it safe? While it is close to impossible in life, it’s possible in macOS with Safe Mode. With this, you can prevent Safari from freezing.

14. Update macOS

Suppose the underlying issue is indeed a result of the glitches that came with a macOS update you downloaded. Apple will surely release another update to fix such bugs.

So, update macOS as soon as the next version is available.

What is a Quick Note?

Quick Notes were introduced with iPadOS 15 and macOS Monterey in the Notes app. Using this feature, you can add ideas and links anywhere on your iPad and Mac. How to enable Quick Notes on iPhone via Control Center

The easiest way to access Quick Notes from anywhere on your iPhone is by adding it to the Control Center. And for that:

3. Scroll down to MORE CONTROLS and tap the + icon next to Quick Note.

If you are web surfing on browsers such as Safari or Chrome and want to add any links to a Quick Note, you can do so from the browser itself. Here’s how:

1. Open a webpage and tap share at the bottom.
   The position of the share button changes according to the browser.
2. Tap Add to Quick Note.
   For other browsers, it will be New Quick Note.
3. Optional: Add a note below the link.
4. Tap Save.

If you don’t want to share the article link but only a part of the text in the webpage to a Quick Note, here are the steps:

1. Open the webpage from where you want to share the text.
2. Tap and hold for the selector tool, and select the text you want.
3. Tap the > icon and select New Quick Note.
4. On Quick Notes, make necessary changes and tap Save.
   
   

Create a Quick Note from any app

When Apple said you could create a Quick Note from anywhere on your iPhone, they meant it. You can share links or apps from the App Store to Quick Note. All you have to do is tap Share and select Add to Quick Note. On some apps, this option will only be available after selecting Share via.

1. Open the Notes app on your iPhone.

Imagine a day when we cannot use the most basic functions of our iPhones, such as making calls or surfing the internet. No, I’m not talking about an apocalypse. This is something that can happen now with the SOS Only issue on iPhone. 

This is an issue faced by many iPhone users. So, in this article, I’ll help you understand what SOS Only means on iPhone and how to fix the error. 

Why does my iPhone say SOS Only?

It’s human instinct to question something you’ve never met before. When your iPhone shows SOS Only, you won’t be able to make regular calls, send SMS texts, or use cellular data – blocking all your network services. The SOS Only status appears in the top-right corner of the control center in iOS 17/16 and the top left corner in previous versions. 

You can still use Emergency SOS to call concerned authorities. However, as of publishing, this service is only available in the United States, Europe, Canada, and Australia. 

These are the main reasons why your iPhone displays the SOS Only error:

• You are outside the carrier coverage area
• You have a bad network reception
• You’re using an old device
• You don’t have an active cellular plan

How to get rid of SOS only on iPhone

Now that you know what SOS Only means on your iPhone and the reasons it may appear, let’s look at how to get rid of the SOS Only issue. 

1. Enable roaming on iPhone

When preparing to travel outside the town, state, or even internationally, turn on roaming on your iPhone.

1. Launch the Settings app → Go to Cellular/Mobile Data.
2. Tap Celluar/Mobile Data Options → Toggle on Data Roaming.
   
   

With data roaming enabled, your network provider can deliver a cellular connection and help you turn off SOS Only on your iPhone. However, keep in mind that some cellular service providers might charge you extra for roaming. 

2. Update carrier settings on iPhone

Cellular carriers occasionally provide updates to improve cellular connectivity and overall network performance. While this usually takes place automatically, you can still check and update carrier settings on your iPhone manually. This fix has a good chance of bringing back 5G on your iPhone. 

3. Turn on/off Cellular Data

We’re sure you’ve heard the old tech adage “just turn it off and on again.” Well, sometimes, that really is all it takes. 

If a SIM card is inserted into your iPhone, and no cellular service is available, there might be a slight issue with your device. You can try to turn Cellular Data off and turn it on again to see if the issue is still there. Here are the steps: 

Open the Control Center and tap the Cellular Data icon to turn it off. Wait for a few seconds, then tap on it again to re-enable data. 

Apart from that, you can also do the following:

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Cellular/Mobile Data → Toggle off Cellular/Mobile Data.
3. Wait for some seconds, and then Toggle on.
   
   

4. Switch to 4G or LTE

Enjoying 5G on iPhone? Well, that might be why your new iPhone says there is no service after activation.  

5G is relatively new, and cellular companies are still optimizing their infrastructure; hence, staying in 4G or Auto mode is still the better option until 5G is widely available. If your network carrier has trouble with 5G, this could be a solution to the SOS Only status on your iPhone. 

5. Turn on/off Airplane Mode

This method lets you quickly restart your wireless connection apart from Bluetooth, which may help you fix the SOS Only issue on your iPhone.

• Open Control Center → tap the Airplane icon.
  After some time, toggle it off and see if the issue is still there.
• Alternatively, you can also do the same by going to Settings → Airplane Mode.
  
  

6. Disable or enable automatic Network Selection

This setting helps your SIM connect to the right network. However, it might not find the correct one instantly. 

To solve this, you can switch off and turn on Automatic Network Selection on your iPhone, which will re-establish the connection and possibly fix the SOS Only issue. 

1. Open Settings → Choose Cellular/Mobile Data.
2. Select Network Selection → Toggle off Automatic.
   
   
3. Wait for a few seconds and toggle it on.

7. Re-insert SIM card

Although rare, network connectivity can also be caused by a physical SIM card error. In such cases, you can take the SIM out, put it back inside, and see if that helps. However, if you are using eSIM on your iPhone, don’t reset it unless your carrier advises you to do so. 

8. Reset network settings on iPhone

Since none of the methods helped you to turn off SOS Only on your iPhone, let’s erase all the connections it has made in the past. 

Performing the following steps will completely erase all the saved data related to connected Bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN configurations, and all other network settings, including SOS Only (hopefully).

1. Open Settings → tap General.
2. Scroll down and select Transfer or Reset iPhone.
   
   
3. Select Reset → choose Reset Network Settings.
4. Enter the passcode.
5. Now, choose Reset Network Settings.
   
   

9. If you’re on a 3G network 

With the arrival of 5G and the improvements in the 4G network, many cellular service providers have started to shut down their 3G mobile services and use those resources elsewhere. Hence, the following devices might see SOS Only as a result:

• iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, or earlier
• iPad 2 Wi-Fi + Cellular or earlier

If you own an iPhone 6 or an iPad (3rd generation) or later and haven’t updated yet, it’s time to update your device. If that doesn’t work, you may need to search for an upgrade. 

10. Check for an outage 

Like Wi-Fi service providers, cellular service providers occasionally experience outages due to planned maintenance, damaged cell towers, network congestion, or several other potential factors. 

If your provider is facing an outage, your iPhone may show the SOS Only status. There’s no specific fix available here, and unfortunately you’ll just have to wait for service to be re-enabled. However, if you contact your provider, or search for an update on their website or social media accounts, you’ll have your answer. 

11. Other common fixes

If you cannot get rid of SOS Only on iPhone, here are some last-resort options:

• Update iPhone: With every new iOS version, Apple attempts to iron out all the known bugs and optimize the OS. So if you see SOS Only on your status bar, give updating your iPhone or iPad a try. 
• Restart iPhone: Everyone deserves a restart, even your iPhone. So restart your iPhone, and if it’s stuck, you can also try to Force restart your iPhone. 
• Reset iPhone: While this can be considered as a last resort option, you can also try to reset your iPhone and see if the issue is fixed. 
• Contact Apple Support: Since none of the issues are working for you, the only option is to visit Apple Support and see if you can help get rid of SOS only on iPhone.

Contact carrier

Since none of these solutions have proved fruitful, the final option is to contact the carrier provider and ask for help. They can help you by replacing your current SIM or through other measures.

What is haptic feedback on the iPhone?

Haptic feedback is that rapid vibrating sensation that occurs whenever you interact with your iPhone’s screen or when there’s a change on your device. Your iPhone might give haptic feedback when you plug a charger, receive a call, or get a notification. Swiping through a selection field such as a date picker? You’ll typically feel the tactile effect of haptic feedback.

Some native apps can adapt to the iPhone’s haptic feedback. This depends on their purpose, though. While you won’t be able to experience vibration for the keyboard, after the iOS 16 update, Apple has allowed users to turn it on.

Note: Haptic feedback is available only on iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and above. If you use a device launched before them, this feature won’t work on your iPhone.

How to make your iPhone keyboard vibrate

Once your iPhone is updated to iOS 16 or later, follow the below steps.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap Sounds & Haptics.
3. Select Keyboard Feedback.
4. Here, select Haptic.
   
   

That’s it! You can now enjoy a much better typing experience with the default iPhone keyboard and don’t have to use any third-party keyboard apps.

How to make your keyboard vibrate on iPhone

Not every iPhone is fortunate to get the iOS 16 update. So, if you own an iPhone 7 series or anything older, you won’t be getting the new iOS update along with the promised features. So what should you do to get keyboard haptics in iOS 15 running iPhones?

You can consider any popular keyboard apps such as Gboard or Swift Keyboards. I will explain how to install and enable haptics on Gboard here. The steps are mostly similar to other keyboard apps.

Download and set up Gboard on iPhone

First, install Gboard from the App Store. Then:

1. Open your iPhone Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards.
   
   
2. Tap Add New Keyboard.
3. Select Gboard.
   You’ll now be back in the previous menu.
4. Next, tap Gboard.
   
   
5. Toggle on Allow Full Access.
6. Tap Allow from the prompt.

That’s it for the setup part.

How to activate haptic feedback on Gboard

1. Open the Gboard app on your iPhone.
2. Go to Keyboard settings.
3. Scroll down and toggle on Enable haptic feedback on key press.
   
   

To disable keyboard vibration: Follow the above steps and toggle off Enable haptic feedback on key press.

Switch to Gboard on the iPhone

It’s now time to switch to Gboard. You can only do this while typing:

1. Open a message field.
   Something like your Messages or Notes app will do.
2. Long-press the web symbol at the keyboard’s bottom-left.
3. Select Gboard.
   
   

Your iPhone’s keyboard will now vibrate when you type!

Keyboard vibration still not working on your iPhone?

Your iPhone keyboard still doesn’t work after following the steps above? Then your phone is probably silent, and you didn’t set it to vibrate in silence.

To fix this issue, ensure that you set your iPhone to vibrate in silent mode:

1. Go to your iPhone Settings → Sounds & Haptic.
2. Toggle on Vibrate on Silent.
   On iOS 16, turn on Play Haptics in Silent Mode.

Your iPhone will now vibrate even while in silent mode.

How do I change the vibration intensity on my iPhone?

You can only change the vibration intensity on your iPhone per use-case basis inside the Settings app. While you can change vibration pattern or strength for some features, unfortunately, there’s no option to do this for the keyboard.

But if you ever want to change the vibration intensity on your iPhone:

1. Open Settings → Sounds & Haptic.
2. You’ll see a list of options under the SOUNDS AND VIBRATION PATTERNS section.
   For instance, you can choose Text Tone to change vibration intensity for received texts:
   • Next, tap Vibration.
   • Select your choice.

Before you can edit or undo a message on iPhone

Don’t get too excited just yet; there are some limitations we should take note of:

• iOS 16 or later – Only iOS 16 or later users can edit and undo messages. As for the recipients running iOS 15,
  • The edited message will be updated but with an ‘edited to‘ tag.
  • Undo will not work as planned, and the message will not be deleted.
• Only iMessage – You can’t edit or undo text messages; it’s iMessage-exclusive.

How to edit messages on iPhone

Editing limit – You can make up to 5 edits to a message within 2 minutes after sending them.

1. Open a conversation on iMessage where you want to make the edit.
2. Tap and hold the message to edit.
3. Now, tap Edit.
   
   

After editing the message, you will see a small edited tag below the message, which will also be visible to the recipient. And here’s come the real fun.

How to see iMessage edit history

Oh yes, you and the recipient can check the edit history of every edited message. Plus, the process is pretty simple, tap the edited tag below the message you had made changes to, and you will see the edit history above it.

How to undo sent iMessages on iPhone

Undo limit – You can only undo a message within 10 seconds after sending it. Also, there might be a chance for them to see the message from notifications before you delete them.

1. Open iMessage and open the conversation where you want to unsend a message.
2. Tap and hold the message you want to delete.
3. Now, tap Undo Send.
   
   

As soon as you tap it, the particular message will burst with a little animation and will disappear.

How to fix Apple Watch swipe up or down not working

Restart is that one magic spell we always rely on whenever a gadget freezes or does not respond properly. Since your Apple Watch is not letting you swipe, I suggest you restart your Apple Watch. But if that doesn’t help, or your Apple Watch is not responding, the next best way is to restart it.

2. Try slow swipes

Since you can’t swipe on your Apple Watch like usual, I recommend trying to do the same a bit slower. It could be a software bug preventing the watchOS from detecting the normal swipes, and until a fix update is pushed, you can try slow swipes.

However, if this doesn’t fix the issue, move on to the following fixes.

3. Unpair and re-pair Apple Watch 

The next best fix is to unpair Apple Watch and pair it again. But before that, I highly suggest taking a backup of your Apple Watch so that you can restore it later.

4. Change watch face

Sometimes, it isn’t a software or hardware issue but a watch face preventing your Apple Watch from registering swipe gestures. So, try changing the watch face of your Apple Watch and see if it helps.

Lift your wrist to light up the screen. You may also tap once. Swipe horizontally from the left or right edge to easily switch between different watch faces.

5. Check for cracks on the screen

Since Apple Watch rests on our hands, it’s easy to get scratches or minute cracks around the bezels and corners, thus affecting the areas where you swipe. Check if there are scratches or cracks; if you notice anything, it’s time to visit Apple Support.

6. Contact Apple Support

If you have noticed scratches or cracks on your Apple Watch or could not find a solution through all these fixes, chances are it’s a hardware issue. Your last resort is to contact Apple Support and inform them about the problem. I hope that you can fix the issue from there.
