When you have many tasks to take care of, it’s easy to lose track of time. But with a simple setting, you can hear your Mac speak the time out loud to keep you on task. You can set the time interval, choose the voice, and adjust the speaking rate. Then, just listen for the time.

Why hear the time on Mac?

From staying on track to getting extra assistance, there are several reasons to have your Mac announce the time.

Here are just a few:

  • If you auto-hide the menu bar and can’t see the clock at a glance.
  • If you are in deep concentration on a particular task, you don’t have to continue checking the clock.
  • If you only want to spend a certain amount of time on a task and don’t use a time-tracking app.
  • If you have a vision impairment, announcements from the Mac can come to your aid.

Whatever the reason, this feature is one of those little things that can enhance your macOS experience.

How to enable time announcement in macOS Ventura or later

It takes only a minute to enable the time announcement feature on Mac

  1. Click the Apple logo on the menu bar → Open System Settings.
  2. Select Control Center in the sidebar and scroll down to the Menu Bar Only section on the right.
  3. Next to Clock, click Clock Options.

Select Control Center, click Clock Options in macOS Ventura
  4. In the pop-up window that appears, scroll near the bottom and turn on the toggle for Announce the time.

Turn on the toggle for Announce the time in macOS Ventura
  5. To the right of Interval, use the drop-down box to choose how often you want to hear the time.
You can pick hourly, every half hour, or on the quarter hour.
  6. You can then select Done to confirm your choices or customize the voice, which we’ll discuss next.

Note: If you are on macOS Monterey or earlier, you need to head to System PreferencesDock & Menu BarClock and follow steps 4-6 as mentioned above.

How to customize announce time voice on Mac

If you want to hear a particular voice or adjust the speaking rate and volume, you can change the voice options as well.

  1. While still in System Settings → Control Center → Clock Options as explained above, select Customize Voice below the Interval section.
  2. Use the drop-down list next to Voice to pick an option.
    • To review additional voices, scroll down and choose Manage Voices. You can then use the play icon to hear a voice and the download icon to install it. Click OK when you finish.

Choose Manage Voices in macOS Ventura
  3. To adjust how fast or slow the voice speaks, check the box for Use custom rate. Then, drag the slider right or left to increase or decrease the speed.
  4. To set the volume for the time announcement, check the box for Use custom volume. Then, drag that slider right or left to increase or decrease the volume.
  5. When you finish, select Play to hear a sample of your selections. You can then make further adjustments or click OK to save the changes.

Adjust how fast or slow the voice speaks in macOS Ventura
  6. Select Done when you return to the Clock Options box.

You should then hear your Mac tell you the time in the voice and interval you picked.

Be on time with help from your Mac!

By having your Mac announce the time, you can continue focusing on your business-related tasks or schoolwork without constantly checking the clock. You can stay on track and on time with this one simple macOS feature. For more, look at how to play white noise in the background as you work.

We can’t all be world travelers, but with map apps, we can feel like we are. Using Google Maps Immersive View on iPhone, you can enjoy breathtaking scenes of the cities and landmarks you’ve always wanted to see in person.

What is Immersive View in Google Maps?

Google Maps first announced plans for Immersive View in 2022 and has been in the process of adding cities and locations since. Using this view, you can visit a city or landmark and look around from above. You can move the screen to see Big Ben from every angle or feel what it’s like at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

Along with incredible views of notable locations and their nearby areas, you can see what the location looks like later in the afternoon or even the next day. This helps you plan your visit or simply admire the scenery at the best time.

Some locations have nearby businesses that allow a peek inside. You can check out an eatery as if you’re walking through the building yourself.

Further, you may have heard of Street View in Google Maps or even used it yourself. This is a useful tool if you’re visiting a city because it provides views from the perspective of walking along the sidewalk or street. But if you want an amazing bird’s eye view of a city or landmark, check out the Immersive View feature.

Which cities have been added to Immersive View?

Immersive View began with major cities like London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Tokyo. As of summer 2023, Google announced additional locations like Amsterdam, Dublin, Florence, and Venice.

You can also explore landmarks like those mentioned earlier, as well as Prague Castle, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and Faneuil Hall.

With these and other locations being added over time, you’ll soon be able to visit more than 500 spots virtually.

If you’re ready to dip your toes into worldwide travel using Google Maps, make sure the app is updated on your iPhone or iPad and follow along to use Immersive View.

How to use Immersive View in Google Maps on iPhone

  1. Open the Google Maps app on iPhone.
  2. In the Search box at the top, look for a city or landmark → Pick the correct location from the list of results.
You can also choose one from your Google Maps search history
  3. Select Immersive View from the card at the bottom.
If you don’t see the Immersive View option, then it’s not available yet for that location.
    • When the stream appears, you’ve entered Immersive View and can then maneuver the screen to see the location from different angles.
    • Drag your finger to pan left, right, up, and down, or pinch the screen to zoom in and out.
  4. After you finish your exploration, tap the X on the top left to exit Immersive View.

Use Immersive View in Google Maps on iPhone

Note: You may see a video of the location while the stream connects. If you receive a message that it cannot connect, simply try again later.

Tips to make the most of Immersive View in Google Maps

One bonus feature of using Immersive View in Google Maps is the ability to look into the future of your chosen location. You can check the current time and weather and then use the available options to see the spot using an upcoming time or day.

Check the time and weather

  1. Enter Immersive View for a city or landmark as described above.
  2. Tap the Time & Weather button on the lower left side.

Enter Immersive View and tap Time and Weather
  3. To look at the location in the future, either tap the time and pick a day from the drop-down menu or slide the timeline beneath to move time forward.

Tap the time or Slide the timeline beneath

Not only does the Time & Weather feature provide you with current and future views of the spot, but can also let you know if the location will be busy at the time you select.

Explore nearby businesses

Another great feature of Immersive View is the option to explore inside nearby businesses. This lets you head inside, look around the location, and see if it’s a spot you want to visit along with the city or landmark.

  1. While using Immersive View, you should see icons for different businesses nearby, such as cafes and restaurants. Those that allow you to step inside have a circle icon below the business-type icon. Tap the circle icon to enter the business.
  2. Once inside the location, use the onscreen joystick to browse around.
  3. When you finish, tap the arrow on the top left to exit the business.

Explore nearby businesses in Google Maps Impressive View

Note: This feature is still in its infancy, so the supported businesses are a bit limited as of this writing.

How to turn off Immersive View on Google Maps

Though Immersive View is a great addition to map navigation and exploring, it can sometimes become annoying. Whenever you open a place supported by this feature, a 3D video starts playing, turning off the music playing on your device. Also, while looking at directions, a mini-player shows realistic videos, which can be distracting.

So, you may want to disable Google Maps Immersive View on your iPhone. Unfortunately, there is no native to permanently remove this. However, you may stop the 3D videos from playing automatically. To do so,

  1. Tap your profile at the top right corner.
  2. Select Settings → Video settings.
  3. Toggle off Allow auto-play.

go to profile, settings, video settings, toggle off allow auto-play in google maps

Travel the world from your couch!

It’s because of the remarkable technological advancements over the years that we can enjoy something as wonderful as a close-up view of a location across the globe.

Take advantage of the Google Maps Immersive View on iPhone for the beautiful places you want to visit, and do it right from the comfort of your sofa. Once you give it a try, be sure to let us know what you think of Immersive View!

You’ve probably been told that when you copy something on your iPhone, it goes on your clipboard. But where is this iPhone clipboard? How can you access the clipboard on your iPhone and see what’s on it? Further, how can you view a history of items that were on your clipboard previously?

If you have faced these questions before, don’t worry. I’ll briefly explain how the iPhone clipboard works and show you a few ways to access the clipboard on your iPhone.

Where is the clipboard on my iPhone?

In iOS, when you copy text, a link, or an image, it resides on a virtual clipboard for you to paste where you need it on your iPhone. So, there’s no app or window to open and view your clipboard on an iPhone.

Additionally, the clipboard stores the copied item until you copy a different one. This means that the iPhone clipboard only holds one item at a time and, thus, doesn’t offer history functionality.

Plus, if you use the Universal Clipboard to copy and paste between Apple devices, those contents are only available for a few minutes.

While you don’t have a simple way to see the iPhone’s clipboard contents or history, you can use a few workarounds. Depending on your needs, check out the following methods for accessing your clipboard contents on your iPhone.

How to access clipboard on iPhone using Notes

To quickly see what’s on your iPhone clipboard, you can simply paste the copied item into Apple Notes.

  1. Open Notes on your iPhone → Select an existing note or create a new one.
  2. Tap and hold a spot in the note and choose Paste.
  3. You’ll see the item from your clipboard pop into the note so you can do what you like.

Copy text in apple note and open new note and paste it

Bonus Tip: You can also consider using Notes to save your iPhone clipboard history. Simply paste those copied items you want to save in the same note, and you’ll have a running history to view any time you like.

How to use clipboard history on iPhone with Shortcuts

Another option to view and edit content on your iPhone clipboard is to use a shortcut called Adjust Clipboard.

With it, you just run the shortcut, and you’ll see your clipboard contents.

  1. Open the Shortcuts app.
  2. Go to the Gallery tab → Enter “Adjust Clipboard” into the search box at the top.
  3. Select the shortcut in the results and tap the plus sign or Add Shortcut.

Go to the Gallery tab, Enter Adjust Clipboard and tap Add Shortcut
  4. Once you have the Adjust Clipboard shortcut, using it is easy. Copy the text. Then go to the Shortcuts app → Run the Adjust Clipboard shortcut in the Shortcuts app.

Select Adjust Clipboard in Shortcuts app and see the copied text and you can edit it
  5. You’ll then see your clipboard contents at the top of the screen.
    • The best part is, here, you can make edits to the clipboard content and save it by tapping Done. This saves the effort of copying the content again. After this, you can just paste the edited content wherever you like.

If you’re new to the Shortcuts app, check out our complete guide for using Shortcuts like a pro.

Use a third-party keyboard to find iPhone clipboard history

If you’ve never used a third-party keyboard on your iPhone, you might consider Microsoft SwiftKey for its handy clipboard feature.

Once you install the keyboard, you can not only view your clipboard contents, but save the items to reuse or to keep a history.

Set up Microsoft SwiftKey

  1. Download Microsoft SwiftKey AI Keyboard from the App Store to get started.
  2. To set up the keyboard, open Settings → General → pick Keyboard
  3. Tap Keyboards → Select Add New Keyboard → Search and pick SwiftKey.

Go to General, Keyboards, select Keyboards, Tap add new Keyboard and select SwiftKey
  4. Select SwiftKey → Toggle on Allow Full Access and confirm by tapping Allow.

Select SwiftKey and toggle on by tapping Allow

Use Microsoft SwiftKey clipboard

  1. Once you have Microsoft SwiftKey, set it up as another keyboard, open an app, and copy an item.
  2. To open the SwiftKey keyboard, tap and hold the globe icon on the bottom left of the Apple keyboard → Select SwiftKey.
Alternatively, you can keep tapping the globe icon until SwiftKey appears.
  3. Tap the tools icon (four boxes) on the right → Select Clipboard → When using it for the first time, select Allow Paste.

Tap the globe icon and select SwiftKey then tap the tools and select Clipboard and copy a text
  4. You’ll then see the current copied item from your clipboard. You can select it to paste it and use the Save option in the clipboard to keep the item in your history to paste it again later.

You can save the copied text to keep it in clipboard history
  5. You can also view your clipboard history and add items directly to the clipboard. To do that, open Microsoft SwiftKey → Select Settings → Tap Clipboard.

Open SwiftKey tap settings and select Clipboard then you can see the copied text

Additionally, consider taking advantage of other features offered by the Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard, like applying a theme, adjusting the settings, and viewing your typing stats. Simply open the app on your iPhone to see these and other options.

Use clipboard apps

If you search the App Store, you’ll find plenty of clipboard apps for your iPhone.

One app that gives you the basics you need, lets you organize copied items, and is completely free is Copy Better.

  1. Download Copy Better from the App Store to get started.
  2. Once installed, open the app and follow the prompts to enable those features you want to use.
  3. To use the app, copy an item and open Copy Better.
  4. You’ll be prompted to Allow the paste action, and then you can view the item in the Last Copied note.

Open Copy Better, tap Allow when prompted and select the Last copied
  5. You can also save your pasted items with names, create folders to organize your items and copy a saved item simply by tapping Copy at the top.

Rename the folder and save it

Your iPhone clipboard does exist!

If you’re someone who copies and pastes items often, being able to see what’s currently on your clipboard, or even what was on it yesterday, can be a huge productivity boost and time saver.

Are these methods for accessing the clipboard on iPhone and managing its history just what you’ve been looking for? Let us know!

The post How to use F keys on Mac appeared first on iGeeksBlog.

Key Takeaways

  • You can use the F keys on Mac to perform the actions printed on them. You can also assign customized functions to them.
  • To use the function keys for different actions, you can enable a setting to require the fn (globe) key to be pressed at the same time. Go to System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts, select Function Keys, and turn on the “Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys.

Whether you call them F keys or functions keys, this row of keys across the top of your Mac keyboard can be quite handy. You can do things like increase your screen brightness or decrease your volume with a single key press.

However, you might be confused by the icons printed on the F keys or would like to use these keys for other actions instead. If that’s the case, I have got you covered. In this guide, I’ll explain what each F key on your Mac does, how to use them normally, and how to customize them to fit your needs.

What are the functions of F keys on Mac?

While in most cases, you can see the actions corresponding to the keys’ functions printed right on the F keys, you may still be confused as to how the Mac keys work. Below, I have mentioned each F key in the top row of your keyboard and what it does on macOS.

Mac F Keys Apple
Source: Apple

Keep in mind that the function keys can vary per your Mac or keyboard model. The keys listed here are based on a 2021 MacBook Pro and Magic Keyboard 2.0.6, and should be applicable to most Macs.

Function keyAction
F1Decrease the screen brightness
F2Increase the screen brightness
F3Open Mission Control
F4Summon Spotlight Search
F5Prompts you to enable Dictation*
F6Enable Do Not Disturb*
F7Restart a track or go to the previous audio track
F8Pause or Play audio
F9Fast forward or go to the next audio track
F10Mute or Unmute audio or volume
F11Decrease the volume
F12Increase the volume

*Note that the F5 and F6 key functions depend on your model and whether you’re using a MacBook backlit keyboard or an external Apple keyboard.

How to use Function keys on Mac

You can use the F keys on your Mac in two different ways.

The first is a simple, one-click method. You can simply press the key to perform the corresponding action. For example, to increase the volume, just press F11. That’s it. Simple!

Now, sometimes, you may accidentally press these F keys while typing, and the F keys will carry out their functions printed on them. This can be a little frustrating. Fortunately, Apple allows you to add another key to the mix so that the printed functions take place only if you use a combination of the globe key (fn) and the F key.

This prevents accidental triggers and also ensures that the F keys continue to operate as standard function keys when used in combination with modifier keys like command, option, control, or shift. Here’s how you add that extra layer of safety:

  1. Open the System Settings using the icon in the Dock or Apple icon in the menu bar.
    Select-Apple-logo-and-choose-System-Settings
  2. Select Keyboard → Click Keyboard Shortcuts.
Go to Keyboard and select Keyboard Shortcuts
  3. In the new window, choose Function Keys at the bottom left.
  4. Toggle on Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys.
  5. Select Done when you finish, and then close the System Settings.
Select Functions Keys, toggle on Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys and tap Done

Once you turn on this setting, hold the globe key (fn) at the bottom left of the keyboard and press the desired F key to perform the action. For instance, to increase the volume, hold fn and press F11.

Tip: If you’ve been trying to use an F key to perform the printed action and it’s not working, make sure the above setting is turned off instead!

How to use F keys on MacBook Pro Touch Bar

If you have a MacBook model with a Touch Bar, using the F keys requires an extra step.

  1. Hold the fn key, which is the bottom leftmost key on the keyboard.
  2. Now, the F keys will appear in the Touch Bar. Then tap on F1 to F12 as per your need.

If you wish to show the F keys on your Touch Bar always for easy, one-tap access, you need to make a change in the System Settings.

  1. Go to System Settings.
  2. Scroll down and pick Keyboard → Select Touch Bar Settings.
Open System Settings, select Keyboard and tap Touch Bar Settings
  3. Click the drop-down menu next to Touch Bar shows → Select F1, F2, etc. Keys.
Dropdown besides the Touch Bar Shows and select F1, F2, etc. Keys

Now, on your Touch Bar, you will permanently spot the F keys. Just tap on the F keys once to use their corresponding functions.

How to customize function keys on Mac

If you prefer to only use the function keys in conjunction with the fn key and enable this setting as described above, you can now customize the keyboard shortcuts for those fn + F keys.

  1. Open the System Settings → Select Keyboard → Click Keyboard Shortcuts.
  2. Choose a feature on the left and an action on the right to enter the F key you want to use. For example, I’ll assign the fn + F1 key to toggle Stage Manager.
    • Note: If the same F key is in use for a different keyboard shortcut, you’ll be unable to add it unless you remove it from the other spot first.
  3. You would choose Mission Control on the left, select the current shortcut or “none” for Turn Stage Manager on/off, and press fn + F1.
Choose Mission Control and select Turn Stage Manager on or off
  4. Double-click on none besides Turn Stage Manager on/off, and press fn + F1.
Enter the function key you want to set as
  5. You should then see F1 listed as the keyboard shortcut for the Stage Manager action, as in the screenshot below.
  6. Select Done to save your change.
Select the shortcut key and tap done

To reset the keys to their default settings, go to System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts, choose the feature on the left, and click Restore Defaults on the right.

How will you use your F keys?

The way in which you use the F keys on your Mac is a personal preference. For instance, if you never use the actions printed on the function keys, it may be beneficial to assign them different actions that are more useful to you.

What are you going to do with your F keys on Mac? Will you use the actions printed on them or assign them to actions you use more often? Let us know!

Need the definition of an isosceles triangle? Want recipes for a low-sodium diet? Looking for a unique way to ask your date to the prom? No request is too outrageous for AI assistants nowadays. By using Microsoft Copilot on your iPhone or iPad, you can get the help you need in a jiffy.

How to download Microsoft Copilot app on iPhone

If your iPhone or iPad is running iOS 15/iPadOS 15 or later, you can download Microsoft Copilot from the App Store and use it for free.

You can also look at the Pro version via in-app purchase, which provides faster performance and image creation using AI. Further, you can integrate Copilot with select Microsoft Office applications if you have a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription.

Microsoft Copilot

Microsoft Copilot uses the latest Open AI models, DALL-E 3 and GPT-4, to offer the same type of AI assistance as ChatGPT and is available on multiple platforms. Here’s a look at how you can get the most out of it from your iPhone or iPad.

How to use Copilot on iPhone and iPad

If you’re ready to spark your creativity or enhance your productivity, let’s get started with Microsoft Copilot!

Select conversation style in Copilot app

Before you use Microsoft Copilot to get information, create a resume, or find a photo, you can choose the conversation tone or use GPT-4.

  1. Launch the Microsoft Copilot app.
  2. On the main screen, tap the three dots on the top right → Pick Show All Tones
  3. Choose the conversation style from More CreativeMore Balanced, or More Precise.
    • You can use the creative tone for things like writing an email or finding an image, the balanced tone for common questions or everyday use, and the precise tone for more informational or factual responses.
  4. When you finish, you can select the three dots and pick Hide All Tones if you like.
Open Copilot app, tap three dots select Show All Tones, select the tone you want and tap three dots, select Hide All Tones on iPhone

Alternatively, turn on the Use GPT-4 toggle and then enter your prompt. You’ll notice that you can type up to 4,000 characters with this option rather than 2,000 with a conversation tone.
Toggle on and off use GPT-4 in copilot app on iPhone

Insert prompt in Microsoft Copilot app

A nice feature of Microsoft Copilot is that you can submit your request in a few different ways. You can type it, dictate it, or snap a photo.

  1. Simply tap inside the text field at the bottom of the main screen and use your device’s keyboard to enter the text.

  2. Then, speak your prompt and tap the Send button.
Tap microphone icon instead of text, speak your prompt and tap send

You’ll also notice that if you stop talking, Copilot recognizes your prompt and sends it automatically. You’ll then hear your response read out loud to you, giving you a hands-free experience.

To send your request in the form of photo:

  1. Tap the camera icon in the text box.
  2. Then, capture your subject in the frame and tap the white prompt button at the bottom.
  3. You’ll see the photo appear in the text box, where you can add your text and tap the Send button to receive your response.
Tap camera icon, capture image and tap the white prompt icon, write your prompt and tap send

After you receive your response, you can do a variety of things with it.

Things you can do with the Copilot’s response

  1. With your conversation in view, tap the three dots on the top right.
  2. You’ll see the Rename, Share, and Delete options in the menu.
  3. You can also provide Feedback on the response if you like.

Tap the three dots, you will see rename, share, delete and feedback

If you scroll to the bottom of the response, you’ll see buttons to copy, share, and hear the response out loud. You’ll also see the thumbs up and thumbs down buttons to provide feedback and, depending on the response, additional reference links.

How to view conversation history in Copilot app on iPhone

Once you sign into Copilot with your Microsoft account, you can revisit previous questions and responses as well as copy or share them.

  1. Tap the menu icon on the top left, and you’ll see your history toward the bottom of the side panel.
  2. Select any conversation to reopen it, and then tap the three dots on the top right to take action.

Additional Microsoft Copilot features

Along with asking questions or entering prompts and receiving responses, you can enjoy a few extra features with Microsoft Copilot on iPhone and iPad.

Suggested prompts in Copilot app

Not sure where to get started with Microsoft Copilot? When you first open the app, you’ll see some suggestions right at the top. These can range from travel recommendations to jokes and riddles to finding a photo. You can also check out one or two of these prompts to get the hang of using the app until you have your own question.

See the suggested prompts in copilot app on iPhone

Along with suggestions on the main screen, you’ll find more after you receive a response to a question or prompt. What’s nice about these prompts is that they’re related to your question and response.

For instance, if you ask for details on vertigo, you might see a suggestion at the bottom for how to prevent vertigo. These additional suggestions can help you take your own conversation and information gathering a step further.

See suggested questions below the prompt in copilot app

Use available plugins in Microsoft Copilot app

Another handy feature of Microsoft Copilot is the ability to use plugins, which are tools to enhance your conversations. Currently, you can pick from plugins like Instacart for information on recipes, Kayak for travel details, and OpenTable for restaurant recommendations.

  1. To use this feature, tap the three dots on the top right of the main screen → Pick Plugins.
  2. Then, toggle on plugins you want to use.
Tap three dots, select Plugins and toggle on plugin you want to use

You can choose up to three.

Use Copilot GPTs

One more feature to check out in the Microsoft Copilot app is the tool set focusing on specifics, called Copilot GPTs. You can open the Designer for image creation, Vacation Planner for travel help, Cooking Assistant for recipes, or Fitness Trainer for workouts.

  1. Tap the menu icon on the top left of the main screen → Choose one of the aforementioned tools.
  2. Then, pick one of the prompts or enter your own in the text box, just like on the main Copilot screen.
Tap the menu icon, select the tools then you can select the prompts from suggestions or write your own

Will you try Microsoft Copilot?

Microsoft Copilot not only gives you the basic AI tools but provides you with a few extras to help you get what you need.

Key Takeaways

  • You can use the Mail app to set an “Out of Office” auto-reply email message on iPhone, iPad, and Mac or set one up in iCloud Mail on the web.
  • To set an auto-reply in the Apple Mail app on iPhone or iPad, Open Settings app > Mail > Accounts > select email account > Turn on the Automatic Reply > select End Date > Enter reply in Away Message box > Save.
  • To set an auto-reply or out-of-office reply on Mac, Open Mail app > select Mail > Settings in the menu bar > Rules tab > Pick Add Rule > Enter a Description > Set up the condition > Pick Reply to Message > Enter your reply and hit OK > Select OK > Apply.

When you’re out of the office for a trip or need to send predefined responses to specific emails, setting up an auto-reply in Apple Mail can help. In this guide, I’ll demonstrate the ways to configure this on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. As a bonus, I’ll show you the process of creating automatic replies in iCloud Mail and Outlook as well. Let’s get started.

What is an automatic reply in Apple Mail?

When you create an automatic email reply, any emails you receive are then sent that response automatically. Most times, people set up an out-of-office reply when they go on vacation or are away from work for another reason.

For example, an automatic reply typically reads, “I’ll be away from the office from June 1 until June 8. I’ll respond to emails when I return.”

Along with messages when you’re out of the office, you can create an auto email reply to acknowledge clients, customers, or similar using an automated message. However, there are some limitations for the iPhone:

Limitations of Mail app on iPhone

The Mail app on iPhone can only create automatic responses for specific clients, such as Microsoft Exchange. Therefore, for most other email providers, the iPhone lacks a direct, native method to set up auto-replies in Mail.

However, the macOS app offers greater flexibility. Therefore, if you don’t have an Exchange account, I suggest moving on to the Mac steps or trying the iCloud Mail method.

Conversely, Gmail users can establish out-of-office responses directly within the Gmail app on their iPhones.

For Outlook app users, there are slightly more options available since it supports out-of-office messages for Exchange, Office 365, and Outlook.com accounts. More on that later!

How to set auto-reply in Apple Mail on iPhone or iPad

If you use an email account such as Exchange, you can set up an auto-reply in Mail using the steps below:

  1. Open the Settings app → Select Mail.
  2. Tap Accounts → Pick the email account.

Go to Mail, select Accounts and select the email account on iPhone
  3. Choose Automatic Reply which displays as “Off” until you set it up and turn it on.
The Automatic Reply option will only appear if the email account you are using allows it in the Apple Mail app.
  4. Turn on the Automatic Reply toggle at the top.
  5. Optionally, select End Date to stop the automated reply on a specific date and time. If you choose None, you can simply return to this section and turn off the Automatic Reply toggle manually.

Toggle on Automatic Reply, then select the date and choose the date range
  6. Enter the reply in the Away Message box.
  7. If you want a different message sent to those outside your organization, turn on the External Away Message toggle, optionally pick a Respond to Mail from option, and enter your reply beneath.
  8. Tap Save on the top right when you finish.

Write the Away Message, then toggle on External Away Message and type the message and save

Since Mail on iPhone lacks a Start Date option for auto email replies, any reply you create will start sending immediately. If you want to set up the message first and activate it later, simply toggle off the Automatic Reply switch. When you’re ready, come back here and toggle it back on.

How to set up automatic reply in Apple Mail on Mac

Maybe you’d like to set up an out-of-office reply for your other email accounts or send it only under specific conditions. You can do this on macOS by setting up a rule in the Mail app, which gives you great flexibility.

  1. Open the Mail app on Mac. Select MailSettings in the menu bar.

Select Mail from the menu bar and tap settings on Mac
  2. Go to the Rules tab → Pick Add Rule.

Tap Rules and select Add Rule
  3. Enter a Description in the pop-up window. This will also serve as the name of your rule.
  4. In the If section, set up the condition(s). Start by picking any or all in the drop-down menu to apply the rule to any or all of your conditions.
  5. Set up the first condition using the drop-down box labeled From. For example, you can select Subject, Contains, and enter a keyword or phrase. Or you can select Account and pick a connected email account from the list.

Add Description, choose conditions in Mail app on Mac
  6. To add another condition, click the plus sign on the right and enter the details.
  7. Under Perform the following actions, click the first drop-down arrow.
  8. Pick Reply to Message.

Select Reply to Message from Perform the following
  9. Enter your reply in the pop-up window, and hit OK to save it.

Enter the message and tap OK
  10. To add another action, click the plus sign on the right and enter the details.
  11. Select OK when you finish.

    Select OK
  12. You’ll see a message asking if you want to apply the rule to existing emails in your inbox. Pick Don’t Apply if this is an out-of-office message and you don’t want it to start yet, or Apply if it’s a different type of reply that you do want to send immediately.

    Choose Apply
  13. In the Rules list, you’ll see your new rule with the box checked. This means it’s active and begins right away. If you prefer to wait, uncheck the box and return here to check it when you want it to begin sending.

Additionally, because you cannot set an end date, return to this spot when you want to stop the reply and uncheck the box for it.

Tip: For other types of rules you can set up in Mail on Mac, look at the steps to color-code emails.

How to set up auto-reply in iCloud Mail

If you have created an iCloud email account, you wish to set up an auto-reply, you can do so through the iCloud.com website.

The best part about this option is that you can schedule the reply with both start and end dates from any device – iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

  1. Visit iCloud MailSign in with your Apple ID.
  2. Use the Show Mailboxes icon (square) on the left if you don’t see the side panel open.
  3. Select the Settings gear icon → Choose Settings.

Tap on the Settings gear icon and select Settings
  4. Pick Auto-Reply on the left pane.
  5. Check the box next to Automatically reply to messages when they are received.

Select Auto-Reply from left pane and Check the box next to Automatically reply to messages when they are received
  6. Enter the dates and times for Starts and Ends. Note that you can use one, the other, or both, which allows you to manually start or end the reply as needed.
  7. Enter your reply in the Message box.

Add the start and end date, select time and add the message
  8. Close the window using the X on the top left.
  9. If you choose to manually start or end the automated message, return to this spot and check or uncheck the Auto-Reply box.

If none of the above methods quite fit your situation, you can also look at the auto-reply options for your particular email service provider. For instance, Microsoft Outlook, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail all provide an automated reply feature.

Here, we’ll walk through setting up an out-of-office reply on Outlook.com. Keep in mind that no matter where you create your auto-reply for Outlook, it should sync with your other Outlook apps using the same Microsoft account.

Bonus

How to set out of office auto reply in Outlook

  1. Visit the Outlook homepage and sign in with your Microsoft account.
  2. Select the Settings gear icon on the top right.
  3. Choose Mail on the left and Automatic Replies to the right.

Select Settings, choose Email and go to Automatic replies in Outlook
  4. Toggle on Turn on Automatic Replies on the right.
  5. Check the box if you want to schedule the reply, and select the dates and times. You also have options to manage your Outlook Calendar during this time frame by checking the boxes.
  6. Enter your message in the box beneath and use the editor to format it if you like.
  7. Optionally, check the box to Send Replies Only to Contacts.
  8. Click Save and use the X on the top right to close the window.

Toggle on Automatic Replies, select date and time and add custom message and save

Consider automated replies

With various options, you can create an auto-reply in Mail easily on your Apple devices. This is a courteous way to let senders know you’re out of the office for a period of time or to send thank you notes to your clients automatically.

Are you going to set up an automatic reply in Apple Mail? If so, let us know which of these methods works best for you!

When you use your iPhone or Apple Watch to access a boarding pass or event ticket, you want to find it quickly in your Wallet app. To be able to do that, it’s essential to remove expired or unwanted passes and cards.

In this guide, I’ll show how to delete passes, tickets and cards from your Apple Wallet on both your iPhone and Apple Watch.

How to remove tickets from Apple Wallet on iPhone

If you have active passes or no longer need tickets, you can easily remove those from the Wallet app on your iPhone.

Remove active passes

  1. Open the Wallet app and select the pass at the bottom.
  2. To delete a pass right away, tap the three dots at the top right → Pick Remove Pass.

Tap on active pass, tap three dot and select remove pass, tap Remove to confirm
  3. To review the pass details before deleting it, tap the three dots → pick Pass Details. You can then select Remove Pass on the detail screen.

Another way to remove active pass, tap three dots, select Pass Details and tap Remove
  4. Tap Remove to confirm.

Delete expired passes

You can find and remove expired passes or tickets from the bottom of the main interface. Plus, you can remove multiple passes from Apple Wallet at once.

  1. Open the Wallet app → Select View X Expired Passes at the bottom of the screen.
  2. To delete a single pass, tap the pass → Choose Delete at the bottom left → Delete to confirm.

Select Expired Passes, select a pass and tap Delete
  3. To delete multiple passes, tap Edit on the top right → Select the passes you want to remove → Choose Delete on the bottom left.

Tap on Expired pass, edit, select multiple pass and tap Delete

Also, if you use the same Apple ID on multiple devices, removing a pass from one device will automatically remove it from all other synced devices as well. And if your device is not synced, then you can follow the below-mentioned steps to remove it manually.

How to remove passes from Apple Wallet on Apple Watch

If you take advantage of Apple Wallet on your Apple Watch, you can manage your active and expired passes on that device as well.

Remove active passes

  1. Open the Wallet app and select the pass at the bottom.
  2. To delete the pass right away, tap Remove Pass at the bottom of the detail screen.
  3. To review the pass details before deleting it, tap Pass Details. Then tap the back arrow on the top left and pick Remove Pass.

Select pass, select remove and tap remove to confirm
  4. Tap Remove to confirm.

Remove expired passes

  1. Open the Wallet app → Tap the three dots at the top left.
  2. Pick View X Expired Passes.
  3. Select the pass you want to delete → Choose Remove.

Tap three dots, select view expired pass and select pass on Apple Watch

Since you cannot delete multiple passes at once on Apple Watch, just follow the same process for each additional pass.

Now, along with passes, you may have a credit or debit card in your Apple Wallet that you want to delete. For example, maybe you’ve closed the account and no longer need the card. You can remove old cards from Apple Wallet on both iPhone and Apple Watch.

How to remove cards from Apple Wallet on iPhone

  1. Open the Wallet app → Select the card.
  2. Tap the three dots on the top right → Pick Card Details.
  3. Choose Remove Card at the bottom of the detail screen.
  4. Select Remove to confirm.

Tap on card, three dots and select Card Details, tap Remove Card and Remove

Although the changes will be reflected in all synced Apple devices, you can choose to take this action from your Apple Watch as well.

How to remove cards from Apple Wallet on Apple Watch

  1. Open the Wallet app → Select the card you want to delete.
  2. Tap Remove at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Choose Remove to confirm.

Select card, tap remove and remove to confirm it

Is it time to clean up your Apple Wallet?

When you’re boarding a plane, attending a concert, or paying for your morning coffee, you want to find the pass or payment card you need as fast as possible. I hope this guide helps you do just that.

If you have any other questions regarding Apple Wallet, do let me know in the comments. I’d be happy to respond.

  • On Mac, open System Settings > Game Center > Update the Nickname field > Hit Return.

When you created your Game Center account, you may not have thought much about the nickname (username) and picked something that was suggested to you. But if you’re trying to connect with friends on Game Center, you may want to change that nickname and make it simpler for your pals to find you.

Let me show you how to change your Game Center username on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro so that you can add more friends and enjoy new challenges together.

How to change Game Center nickname on iPhone and iPad

You can change the Game Center username as many times as you want. So, if you don’t like the current name, here’s all you need to do:

  1. Open the Settings app → Scroll down and choose Game Center.
  2. Tap the Nickname field → Delete the existing name and enter a new name.
  3. Select Return at the bottom of the keyboard when you finish.

Go to Game Center, tap on Nickname and edit the Nickname and press return on iPhone

Remember, if the new nickname you entered isn’t available, you’ll have to pick a different one.

You can then use the arrow on the top left to exit the Game Center settings, and you’ll see the updated name on your other Apple devices.

This will make you more identifiable and help add more friends on Game Center. Then you can quickly move onto to some two-player games.

How to change Game Center nickname on Mac

  1. Go to System Settings using the icon in the Dock or Apple icon in the menu bar.
  2. Select Game Center from the left pane.
If you haven’t already, toggle on Game Center and continue with your Apple ID.
  3. Select the Nickname field → Edit or enter a new name → Hit return to save it.

Select Game Center and edit name besides Nickname tab on Mac

You can then close the System Settings and should see your updated Game Center nickname on your Apple devices.

How to change Game Center nickname on Apple Vision Pro

Like a lot of other apps and services, Game Center can be synced across all Apple devices – including the mind-blowing Apple Vision Pro.

Since the device is relatively new, you might not have enabled the Game Center on the Vision Pro. Here’s all you need to do.

  1. On your Vision Pro, go to SettingsGame Center.
  2. If you haven’t already, toggle on Game Center → Sign in with your Apple ID.
  3. Select the Nickname field → Enter a new name.

Go to Game Center and tap Nickname and change nickname on Vision Pro

That’s it. The steps are as straightforward as on the iPhone. The only difference lies in employing hand gestures to control the Vision Pro.

For optimal gaming sessions with your new headset, consider enhancing your setup with Vision Pro accessories and travel cases. Not only will these additions elevate your gaming experience, but they’ll also ensure the safety of your equipment.

Can I have a different Apple ID for Game Center?

If you want to sign into Game Center with a different Apple ID, head to Settings > Game Center and tap Sign Out. Turn the Game Center toggle back on, choose the “Not [your Apple ID]” option, and then sign in with the other Apple ID connected to the Game Center account.

How to make a new Game Center account with the same Apple ID?

You can only have one Game Center account linked to an Apple ID. If you want to have multiple Game Center accounts, you’ll need to set up additional Apple IDs. However, if you have set up Family Sharing, multiple people within the group can access that Game Center account and its purchases.

How do I change my Game Center profile picture on my iPhone?

You can change the profile picture or avatar for your Game Center account easily. Go to Settings → Game Center → Tap Edit Avatar → Make your selection and tap Done.

While there are plenty of cool things you can do with your Apple Vision Pro, one that you definitely have to check out is connecting it to your Mac. This seamless integration is made possible through a feature known as Mac Virtual Display.

It allows you to bring your Mac screen front and center on your Apple Vision Pro, thereby providing you with the experience of interacting with a portable 4K screen! In this article, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about connecting your Mac to Apple Vision Pro.

Requirements to use Mac Virtual Display for Vision Pro

Before you connect your Mac to Apple Vision Pro, be sure to review the following requirements. These can help you avoid connection problems.

  • You must be running macOS Sonoma or later and have the latest version of visionOS on Apple Vision Pro.
  • You must be signed in with the same Apple ID on both devices and use two-factor authentication.
  • You must have the devices within 30 feet (10 meters) of each other.
  • You must have both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on and not be sharing your internet connection on either device.
  • Ensure you’re not using Apple Vision Pro’s Guest User feature. Mac Virtual Display doesn’t work in this mode.

If you want to share your pointer between devices, you must have Handoff enabled.

Choose Mac display and resolution

If you have more than one screen connected to your Mac, the Mac Virtual Display will only show the one you have set as the main display.
