When it comes to protecting your online privacy, choosing between Apple’s iCloud Private Relay and VPN can be confusing. When you enable iCloud Private Relay, it hides your IP address and secures the information you send on the internet. That sounds exactly like the function of a VPN, right? But let me tell you, both are quite different!

In this article, I will break down the basics and share a detailed comparison of iCloud Private Relay vs. VPN. So, you can decide which one might be right for your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Since this is a detailed discussion, if you need a quick link to a desired section, you can just select it from the table below!

What is iCloud Private Relay?

You can use the iCloud Private Relay feature on Safari across your Apple devices if you have an iCloud+ subscription. While browsing, this feature encrypts your data, such as your location, IP address, and DNS requests.

To accomplish this, all your internet interactions are routed through two separate servers. Thus, websites, online trackers, even Apple, and your internet service provider can’t trace your identity and browsing activity. In return, you will not be served annoying, targeted ads.

Curious how so much happens while your searched website loads in seconds? Keep reading!

How does iCloud Private Relay work

After you set up iCloud Private Relay on your Apple ID, all your web browsing requests on Safari are sent through two internet servers. As the name suggests, it’s like a relay race. Let me explain with an example.

Suppose you searched for iGeeksBlog on Safari. Now, Safari sends your DNS request to Apple’s server.

In this first relay, Apple encrypts the web address you searched for from your ISP. So, Apple and your network provider only know your device’s IP address, not your browsing activity.

In my case, both parties know I am searching for something on Safari but can’t detect that I want to visit iGeeksBlog.

In the next relay, your web request goes to third-party content providers through a secured link. They give you a proxy IP address, hiding your real one. Then, the server deciphers the encrypted DNS record and navigates you to the requested website from the new IP address.

Therefore, the third-party servers and the website’s trackers only know I want to visit iGeeksBlog without my identity.

How does iCloud Private Relay work

Altogether, neither Apple and ISP nor third-party servers and websites can track down your device’s location, your demographics, or what you do on the internet.

Now that you understand the functionalities of iCloud Private Relay, let’s explore the advantages and limitations you’ll get when using this!

Pros and Cons of using iCloud Private Relay

You may want to use iCloud Private Relay if you want:

  • Enhanced privacy for free. When you pay for iCloud+, Private Relay is a bonus.
  • Super easy set up process. You don’t need to download anything or configure your device. Simply, toggle on Private Relay from iCloud settings.
  • No extra hassle to use Private Relay on other Apple devices. Once you enable the feature, all your Apple devices logged in with the iCloud account can access it.

However, there are some concerns you must know before committing yourself to Private Relay.

  • It’s obvious that only Apple users can take advantage of this. However, the feature only works in the Safari browser and no other browsers on your iPhone or Mac.
  • Some websites may not load fully due to the relay. Also, due to the masked identity, few regions and websites restrict its usage.
  • Despite the encryptions, Apple still logs very little user data. However, they claim this data will not be used to identify users.

So, overall iCloud Private Relay offers robust privacy. However, if you want to have a more customized experience and advanced security features, you may consider getting a VPN. In the next section, I will explain the features and functionalities of a VPN.

What is a VPN?

A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, lends you a temporary IP address and encrypts all your internet activities. It routes your traffic through a remote server than your ISP’s. Thus, you can enjoy a secure connection to the internet without risking your privacy.

Sending your DNS requests through servers? Hmm, sounds a bit like Private Relay, isn’t it? But, in truth, there’s more to it. Let me explain how it work.

How does a VPN work?

Before you go online, you must enable VPN on your device and connect to a remote server. It will hide your actual device’s location and assign you a new IP address. Now, when you search anything on browser, your DNS request goes to the VPN server first.

There, your data is encrypted and sent to the requested website through the proxy IP address. So, your ISP and other third-party trackers won’t detect your real identity and location. They will see your location the same as your connected VPN server.

How does VPN work

Note: These are the basics of any VPN service. Advanced VPN services, such as SurfShark, offer high-end encryption, no-logs policy, industry-leading connection protocols, DNS leak protection, and much more.

Pros and Cons of using VPN

VPN can be your go-to privacy tool because:

  • VPN works on all operating systems and web browsers. If you are using a premium service, you only need to log in to the devices with your credentials.
  • Besides browser activity, all your internet interactions through apps and games are also protected. This is useful when connected to public Wi-Fi or shared networks.
  • Advanced AES-256 encryption provides enhanced security and data encryption. So, even hackers can’t snap your privacy.
  • As the remote servers are located across the world, you may access geo-restricted contents.
  • VPN prohibits you from accessing malicious websites.

Despite so much to offer, VPN also has some disadvantages:

  • When surfing the internet via VPN, you may experience lags. Your internet speed may decrease depending on the distance and traffic of your connected server.
  • Your DNS requests are processed through third-party servers. So, few free VPN services may monitor and sell your online activity.
  • Setting up VPN on your device may have a learning curve.

I hope now you have a clear understanding of VPN service. You may find iCloud Private Relay is a simplified version of a VPN. But that’s not the case.

Is iCloud Private Relay a VPN?

The simple answer is NO. At first glance, I thought iCloud Private Relay and VPN are the same thing. But after using both, I understood they operate differently and can’t be used as substitutes.

So, what’s different? Let’s understand in detail!

iCloud Private Relay vs VPN – Key differences

iCloud Private Relay only protects your Safari web traffic. This means that your other internet browsing sessions are not safe. A VPN, on the other hand, secures all your online activities, no matter what browser or device you use.

Though iCloud Private Relay hides your IP address and requested website data, Apple can still see your real IP address. VPN masks both your IP address and your online traffic. So, all data going to and from your device is safe and secure.

The most distinguished difference is Apple provides a proxy IP address of a server from your region. However, VPN service lets you pick a specific country’s server.

Overall, iCloud Private Relay focuses on hiding browsing activity, while a VPN secures your entire internet connection with additional security features.

What should you prefer – iCloud Private Relay or VPN?

The choice between iCloud Private Relay and VPN depends on your specific needs. If you value seamless integration with Apple devices, use Safari most of the time, and prioritize browsing privacy, iCloud Private Relay may be the way to go.

However, if you seek broader device compatibility and comprehensive internet security, a VPN might better suit your requirements.

As I constantly surf the internet to research content, I personally use a VPN on my Mac. It saves me from trackers, marketers, malware, and hackers, keeping my browsing experience clean and safe.

Signing off…

That’s all for the iCloud Private Relay vs. VPN war. Ultimately, the decision between iCloud Private Relay and VPN comes down to your priorities. Consider your device ecosystem, privacy concerns, and internet usage habits to determine which option aligns best with your needs.

iOS 17 was a hit with a slew of new features such as StandBy mode, Live Stickers, NameDrop, etc. So, all iPhone users are hyped up for upcoming iOS 18 features. While Apple hasn’t said anything, iOS 18 rumors have begun to surface on the internet.

According to sources, Apple may introduce generative AI features, following the steps of Google and Samsung. Besides, iOS 18 may get RCS support for a better messaging experience. Experts have made many more leaks and speculations. Here, I have gathered all the rumored and expected features of iOS 18, along with the supported devices and release date.

When will iOS 18 be released?

iOS 18 will be released during WWDC 2024, which will be held from June 10-14. Next, a developer beta will be published to developers the same day, and a public beta will be released in July.

Once announced, iOS 18 will be available to the public in September 2024, following the release of the iPhone 16 series. Apple has not revealed anything regarding WWDC, the iPhone 16 series, or iOS 18, so this is purely speculation based on a decade’s history.

Which iPhones will support iOS 18?

Apple provides updates for up to five years and can even extend to six if the iPhone’s hardware can handle the latest software updates. However, with the iOS 17 update, Apple dropped support for the iPhone 8 series and iPhone X.

Following the same trend, you can expect it to drop a few more devices with iOS 18 update. Again, these are speculations from Apple’s update history with iOS. As a result, you can assume which device will iOS 18 support.

Here’s a list of devices that you can expect iOS 18 to support when announced at WWDC 2024:

  • iPhone 16 series
  • iPhone 15 series
  • iPhone 14 series
  • iPhone SE 2022 (3rd generation)
  • iPhone 13 series
  • iPhone 12 series
  • iPhone SE 2020 (2nd generation)
  • iPhone 11 series

Although the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max received the iOS 17 update, they were released in 2018, meaning they’re over six years old. As a result, Apple might not update them to iOS 18 since their hardware may not handle it.

Besides, considering your budget, if you’re using an iPhone XR/XS or XS Max, I think upgrading to the iPhone 15 or 16 series would be better.

iOS 18 expected features

iOS 16 and iOS 17 weren’t a complete revamp, but they introduced a new set of features that focused on customization. According to insiders, iOS 18 will not follow the same iterations and bring a major overhaul to the iPhone interface.

A Bloomberg report states that Apple has delayed iOS 18’s production by a week to squash bugs and provide a stable base for iOS 18. However, I believe this won’t affect the feature development or release of iOS 18 in any way.

The details of iOS 18 are currently limited since it’s early. In January, Mark Gurman posted on X, “I’m told that the new operating system is seen within the company as one of the biggest iOS updates — if not the biggest — in the company’s history.”

If that sparks joy already for you, the expected features of iOS 18 will amplify it tenfold. So, here is everything you can expect from iOS 18:

1. AI-enhanced Siri

Siri icon on Apple devices

Since its release in 2011, Siri has evolved with each iOS version. According to Mark Gurman, Apple is planning to revamp Siri with a new AI, incorporating Ajax-based LLM (Large Language Model) technology.

As a result, it’ll improve how Siri works with the Messages app, allowing you to field questions and auto-complete your sentences. Besides, a few iOS 18 rumors suggest you can have a more personalized and natural conversation with Siri.

Also, to maintain the context, Siri may store the conversation information and sync it from one device to another. According to The Information, Apple is combining Siri and the Shortcuts app. Hence, you will be able to automate complex multi-step tasks with a single command.

2. Generative AI integration

Improved Siri

AI took the internet by storm in 2023, and Apple is looking to hop on the same boat with iOS 18. Multiple rumors state that Apple will build its own AI chatbot for iOS 18 and is preparing servers to handle the AI workload.

In a report from TheVerge, Tim Cook mentioned during Apple’s quarterly earnings call that Apple is working on generative AI software features that will be available to customers by the end of the year. This perfectly aligns with Mark Gurman and other analysts’ statements.

“Let me just say that I think there’s a huge opportunity for Apple with generative AI and with AI, without getting into many more details or getting ahead of myself,” Tim Cook added later.

AI in iOS 18 will welcome new changes to the operating system, such as Siri becoming more intelligent, Apple Music auto-generating playlists, and iWork apps (Pages, Keynote, and Numbers) offering AI-assisted writing and slide deck creation.

Also, generative AI in Xcode can help write code quickly for developers. However, experts estimate that the on-device processed advanced AI functions may be confined to the iPhone 16 models, as they will have more powerful SoCs.

These are speculations; there’s no guarantee that Apple will incorporate everything in iOS 18. Some features can launch with iOS 18 by the end of the year, while Apple could keep others for later versions. It’s because building full-fledged AI servers will take time.

3. More customizable Home Screen

Previously, iOS 17 offered several options for customizing the Lock Screen on iPhones. With iOS 18, Apple is expected to redesign the control center and allow customizing the Home Screen grid.

According to Mark Gurman, users may be able to freely move app icons anywhere on the Home Screen and even leave a space between two icons in iOS 18. However, experts believe Apple may implement an invisible grid system on the Home Screen to maintain uniformity between app icons and widgets.

Also, some sketchy rumors reported by MacRumors suggest that the iOS 18 design layout may bring a transparent user interface with circular icons similar to VisionOS.

As we are expecting a revamped design in iOS 18, till then, deck up your iPhone with the latest WWDC 2024 wallpapers.

4. New Accessibility features

Introducing new Accessibility features has become standard at WWDC. This year, Apple is rumored to develop a new Adaptive Voice Shortcuts feature for iOS 18 and macOS 15. MacRumors‘ report suggests that users may be able to create a custom voice command to activate any accessibility features.

Users can further organize these commands using Live Speech‘s new custom categories. Besides, more native apps are expected to support customized text sizes.

5. RCS Support for better texting with Android users

Android Get the Message campaign

In October 2023, Apple confirmed that it’ll bring RCS support to the iPhones with a software update in 2024. RCS (Rich Communication Services) is a texting protocol used by messaging apps on Android. Think of it as a successor to SMS and MMS.

In a statement to 9to5Mac, Apple said, “We believe RCS Universal Profile will offer a better interoperability experience when compared to SMS or MMS. It’ll work alongside iMessage, which will continue to be the best and most secure messaging experience for Apple users.”

In other words, Apple will adopt the RCS standard in iMessage to support texting to Android users. Moreover, it’ll add real-time typing indicators and read receipts when texting Android users. Also, you may easily send higher-resolution photos, videos, and larger files to Android.

Besides, the RCS support will offer audio messaging, cross-platform emoji reactions, and sending messages over cellular or Wi-Fi. Hence, there will be no more errors while chatting with an Android user. And yes, the blue vs. green bubble will keep them divided like it currently exists.

It’s primarily due to EU regulations, which led Apple to adopt USB-C with the iPhone 15 series. On the other hand, Google is pushing Apple towards RCS with its #GetTheMessage trend.

6. Web browsers without WebKit

Apple has always pushed WebKit on other browsers, leading to less or almost no difference when using different browsers. While there’s an option to change the default browser on iPhone, it’s still built on WebKit.

With iOS 17.4, Apple has allowed other browsers to drop WebKit and use the same rendering engine used in their desktop counterparts. Google and Mozilla have announced that they’re working on new iOS browsers.

The Google Chromium team is ready to port Blink to iOS, which will result in the adoption of Google Chrome and other browsers, such as Microsoft Edge, Arc, Opera, Brave, etc. Mozilla is going with Gecko, similar to what you see on its desktop browser.

Since it’s a rendering engine overhaul, it might take some time for the new browsers to be released to the public and for other Chromium-based browsers to adapt. You can expect these browsers around June 2024 or a bit earlier.

EU is regulating and forcing Apple to make changes to iOS. You can see the results since iOS 17.4 beta asks you to choose a default browser when setting up your iPhone. It’s a welcoming change and a step in the right direction to end Safari’s monopoly in iOS.

What are you expecting from iOS 18?

iOS is an evolving operating system, and AI throughout the OS is an excellent addition. Furthermore, since it’s a big update, you can expect iOS to go on a complete revamp this year.

However, iOS lacks features like T9 dialing, split screen support, and more, so you might just keep waiting. What features are you expecting with iOS 18? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

The iPhone 15 series launched with new features, such as the Action button, titanium body, better cameras, and A17 Pro chipset, and received a good reception among the public. As a result, everyone is waiting for the upcoming iPhone 16.

As usual, there’s no news from Apple, but rumors start floating around. According to some sources, the iPhone 16 series won’t be a big leap like the 15 but will feature substantial upgrades for the display, camera, and more. I have gathered all the rumors and expected features of iPhone 16, including its release date, price, and specs.

When will iPhone 16 be released?

Looking at a decade’s history, Apple should announce the iPhone 16 series in September 2024. Apple did launch a few models or variants in October, but that doesn’t affect iPhone’s announcements.

Apple launched the new iPhone and Apple Watch series together, and the event took place on the second Tuesday of September. Considering that you can expect the iPhone 16 series to be announced on September 10, 2024, alongside the Apple Watch.

Following that, you can expect the pre-orders to start between September 13 and 15, and a few variants will start shipping from September 20 onwards, like we saw last year with the iPhone 15 lineup.

What is the expected price of iPhone 16?

The iPhone 15 series didn’t see a price increase, except Apple dropped the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 128GB variant. As a result, the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at $1199. It’s not a price increase, but you can consider it one.

Apple didn’t increase the prices of the iPhone 15 lineup, even though the component prices were increased by 16 percent. Although the surplus value was absorbed, it may or may not continue the same strategy with the iPhone 16 series to avoid revenue impact.

Currently, there are no rumors regarding the pricing of the iPhone 16 models. I can only assume that Apple will maintain the starting price of $799 for standard iPhone 16 variants and $999 and $1199 for the iPhone 16 Pro models.

If you see a price increase, it’d not be 16 percent, in my opinion. Nonetheless, prepare yourself for a price increase so you don’t have to wait until the iPhone 16 is revealed in September.

iPhone 16 specs and features

iPhone 16 specs and features

Per the rumors, the iPhone 16 lineup should bring substantial upgrades over the iPhone 15 series. According to Unknownz21, the iPhone 16 Pro will be wider, receiving a display size increase, which hasn’t happened in years.

Moreover, we’ll see a new A-series chipset, camera improvement, and a few design changes.

That said, here’s a roundup of every change the iPhone 16 can feature based on the current rumors. iPhone 16’s launch is afar, and Apple may turn the tables and change its decisions anytime before announcing them.

1. Improved display

As mentioned above, the iPhone 16 Pro models will see an increase in their display sizes. The iPhone 16 Pro is said to feature a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch panel, resulting in unwieldiness in your hands. The iPhone hasn’t seen an increase in display size in four years since the iPhone 12 series.

Twitter user uredditor
Twitter user @URedditor

On the contrary, the standard models of the iPhone 16 series won’t feature any screen size bump. Their display sizes will remain the same as their predecessors. To sum it up, here are the rumored display sizes of the iPhone 16 series:

  • iPhone 16: 6.1-inches
  • iPhone 16 Plus: 6.7-inches
  • iPhone 16 Pro: 6.3-inches
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: 6.9-inches

Besides the screen size, the iPhone 16 OLED panels could use the MLA (micro-lens array) technology to improve its brightness and reduce the battery drain. If you didn’t know, MLA uses billions of lenses in a uniform pattern to reduce internal reflection.

Apart from these changes, there’s no information about the screen resolution or the brightness of the displays in the iPhone 16 series.

2. Capture button

iPhone 16 Additional Capacitive Capture

Apple introduced the Action button with the iPhone 15 series, but was limited to the Pro models. It replaced the mute switch using the iPhone 15 Pro’s Action, which lets you perform various tasks, including Shortcuts.

According to a MacRumors report, the Action button will be expanded to the standard models. If that wasn’t enough, a Weibo leaker named Instant Digital claimed that there’s a high chance that the iPhone 16 will be featuring an additional button.

It’s rumored to be the Capture button and will be on the same side as the Power button, replacing the space occupied by the mmWave antenna in the US. Meanwhile, the mmWave cutout will move to the left side of the iPhone.

3. Better cameras

iPhone 16 Pro Max Feature Super Telephoto Camera

The iPhone 16 Pro models will feature improvements to the 48MP camera, taking better images in low lighting conditions. The 48MP wide-angle iPhone 16 Pro Max lens will reportedly have an eight-part hybrid lens (two glass and six plastic elements).

The 16 Pro Max could have 5x capabilities in the telephoto lens and could feature a periscope camera for better optical zoom. This information is from a Digital Chat Station, a reliable source, but it still needs backing from other reliable sources.

On the other hand, the non-pro iPhone 16 models are expected to have a vertical camera layout, similar to the iPhone 12. The iPhone 13 and 14 featured diagonal cameras, but this change might allow them to record spatial videos, similar to iPhone 15 Pro models.

The cameras in the iPhone 15 series are adequately good for now. And you’ll only see subtle improvements to the ultra-wide and the primary lens.

4. Chipset and hardware improvements

While Apple surprised us by including the Pro series chipset in the iPhone 15 Pro models, we can expect to see it following the same trend. As a result, one can expect that the iPhone 16 models will feature an A17 chip while the 16 Pro models will feature an A18 Pro chipset.

However, analyst Jeff Pu thinks Apple will use A18 and A18 Pro names for the new chips. Both will feature TSMC’s N3E process, but the A18 Pro might feature more GPUs.

It’s rumored that after seeing the overheating issues of the 15 Pro Max models, Apple plans to work on a new thermal system for better heat dissipation. Currently, Apple is using copper for thermal conductivity, but it could be a graphene thermal system for the iPhone 16 models.

Furthermore, the RAM on the non-Pro iPhone 16 models could see an upgrade to 8GB from the 6GB in the iPhone 15. I don’t know why Apple is decreasing the difference between Pro and non-Pro models, but you’ll see 8GB of RAM throughout the iPhone 16 series.

The iPhone 16 Pro models could feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 5G mode, which allows faster and more efficient 5G connectivity. It’ll also improve carrier aggregation, taking 25 percent less space on the circuit board and consuming 20 percent less power.

In contrast, the non-Pro iPhone 16 models will feature Qualcomm’s X70 chip, the same as the iPhone 15 models. As reported by Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is expected to start using its own modem chip in 2025, meaning we won’t see it until the iPhone 17 series.

Lastly, you’ll see iPhone 16 Pro models adopting the Wi-Fi 7 technology for better speeds, low latency, and reliable connectivity. On the contrary, the iPhone 16 will feature Wi-Fi 6E models, supporting the 6GHz band. The USB-C port will see no changes, and the iPhone 16 lineup will adopt the same.

5. AI features

Regarding the software part, it should be obvious that Apple will introduce the iPhone 16 models with iOS 18. According to leaks, iOS 18 will feature many AI features and RCS (Rich Communication Services).

You’ll see AI throughout the operating system, including Siri, Messages, Apple Music, Voice Notes, and other Apple apps.

6. Increased battery life

iPhone 16 Pro Leak Reveals Redesigned Battery with a Metal Shell
Source – x.com

Rumor has it that the iPhone 16 Pro models will use stacked batteries, resulting in higher capacity and longer battery life. These are common in smartphones, electric vehicles, and medical equipment.

Moreover, the battery will have a new design and an updated connector. The best part is that Apple could “finally” allow a faster 40W wired and 20W MagSafe charging.

Is iPhone 16 Ultra confirmed?

Rumors were floating around stating that Apple would launch an Ultra model. But I don’t think it’s happening anytime soon, as no traces of it were found in the early iOS 18 code.

Looks like Apple is sticking to the four-models lineup like always, meaning the iPhone 16 series would consist of iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max models. Again, these are early leaks, and this information can change in the future when more rumors are released.

Are you planning to buy the iPhone 16?

We haven’t seen a big overhaul of the iPhone since the iPhone 12 series. And it looks like the iPhone 16 series will follow the same path. Again, these are early rumors; we can’t be sure of them as they could change.

If you’re waiting to get the iPhone 16, these substantial upgrades will make a big difference if you come from iPhone 13 and older phones. What features do you want to see in the iPhone 16? Let me know in the comments below.

Quick Answers
  • Walmart does not directly accept Apple Pay in-store or online. However, you can make use of a workaround.
  • You can add your Apple Card to the Walmart app and use it for payments.
  • Walmart prioritizes its own payment system, Walmart Pay, to avoid Apple Pay transaction fees.
  • If you have invested heavily in the Apple ecosystem, you’d know Apple Pay is a highly convenient way to purchase items without carrying a wallet or credit card. Over the years, an increasing number of vendors have started accepting Apple Pay, making it easier to use than ever before.

However, Walmart still doesn’t accept Apple Pay. This might lead you to think, why doesn’t a major retailer like Walmart take Apple Pay? Will Walmart ever accept Apple Pay? Is there any way to use Apple Pay at Walmart? All such questions will be answered in this article.

    Does Walmart accept Apple Pay?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. Walmart doesn’t take Apple Pay despite its popularity.

Whether you’re checking out on your own or going through a traditional cashier lane, you can’t use Apple Pay. You won’t see Apple’s logo on Walmart’s registers, either.

This has nothing to do with your iPhone model. Whether you are using an old iPhone or a new one, Apple Pay just doesn’t work at Walmart.

Several Walmart customers are believed to have urged the retailer to allow Apple Pay transactions, but the former remains firm in its decision.

Now, this would naturally raise questions like, why doesn’t Walmart take Apple Pay? Will it ever accept Apple Pay? To answer these questions, I dug deep and found some potential reasons.

Why doesn’t Walmart take Apple Pay?

Walmart’s refusal to accept Apple Pay stems from a mix of financial and strategic considerations. Here’s a brief:

    1. While Apple Pay is popular, Walmart may be strategically steering customers towards their own mobile payment app, Walmart Pay. The app functions similarly to other digital wallets and has additional features for an intuitive payment experience. All you have to do is scan the QR code that appears at any checkout lane, and you’re on your way. You’ll get a receipt saved to your Walmart account; no cash or card is required.
    2. Walmart might be avoiding the transaction fees that come with Apple Pay. Since Walmart is known for its low prices, it probably doesn’t want to pay more money. Additionally, this helps Walmart keep its promise of offering affordable stuff to its customers.

Will Walmart ever accept Apple Pay?

It’s very unlikely. According to a MacRumors interview with Walmart spokesperson Erin Hulliberger, “Walmart Pay is the exclusive form of mobile payment accepted at Walmart, and [they] have no plans for that to change” any time soon.

In 2017, Bloomberg reported that Walmart was moving closer to incorporating Apple Pay into its mobile payment options. However, as several years have passed, this plan no longer appears to be active.

Alternatively, if Walmart were to discontinue Walmart Pay, there’s an outside chance they might adopt Apple Pay. However, this doesn’t seem possible for the foreseeable future.

How to use Apple Pay at Walmart

This might come as a surprise, but you can most definitely use your iPhone to make payments at Walmart. All you have to do is add your Apple Card as a payment method to the Walmart app and then make transactions through the app as usual.

    Here’s how you do it.

    1. Open the Walmart app on your iPhone → Sign in or create an account.
    2. Go to the Account tab Click Wallet.
    3. Tap Add new payment method Choose Credit/Debit Card.

Open Walmart app and add a new payment method
    4. Add your Apple Card. Follow the on-screen instructions to add your Apple Card as a payment method to the Walmart app.
      • Once added, you can now use your Apple Card in Walmart Pay to pay for your purchases at any self-checkout.
    5. All you need to do is open the Walmart app → Walmart Pay.
    6. Scan the QR code at the register → Choose your Apple Card as your preferred payment method.

Another workaround is to use another app called Ibotta, which provides cashback when you shop in-store or online with leading brands and retailers, including Walmart.

Instead of the Walmart app, shoppers can opt for Ibotta to complete their transactions.

    • The process is straightforward: link your Apple Card to Ibotta and select the Apple Pay option at checkout within the app.
    • This generates a barcode, which the cashier can scan; it’s as if you’re purchasing a mobile gift card on the spot.

What payment methods does Walmart accept?

Aside from its own proprietary app, Walmart also accepts the following payment methods:

    • Debit and credit cards
    • EBT card
    • Affirm
    • Paypal
    • Gift cards
    • Refund credit
    • HAS/FSA cards
Does Walmart take Google Pay or Samsung Pay?

No, Walmart does not accept Google Pay or Samsung Pay. Currently, they only accept their own digital wallet, Walmart Pay.

    Does Walmart accept PayPal?

Yes, Walmart accepts PayPal for both online and in-store purchases

    Wrapping up…

Well, you can’t use Apple Pay at Walmart in 2024. But that won’t stop you from easy checkouts with your iPhone, as long as you’re up to using Walmart Pay.

Why do you want to see Walmart accept Apple Pay? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below! We want to hear from you.

Know more about Apple’s service/repair/replacement program:

    • The repairs/replacement service is limited to certain regions.
    • The service program isn’t an extension of your warranty program unless you have opted for it.
    • To claim the service program for some products, you need to ensure there is no physical damage to the product.

There’s no denying that Apple sets high standards to maintain the quality of its product. However, despite taking all the measures, some users might still get devices with manufacturing defects. To err is human, and not even giant brands are immune to that.

Thankfully, the fruit company is not rigid to accept its mistakes and will be ready to help you solve the issue. However, how can you check if your iPhone, Mac, or any other Apple device is having any issues? And what are the support programs the brand offers? All of these questions have been answered in this detailed guide to Apple service programs.

How to check your device for eligibility

Apple Vision Pro is the next definition of virtual reality with stunning design and jaw-dropping features. However, Meta has been the frontrunner in the AR/VR sphere with their Quest headset. Naturally, everyone wants to know who wins – Apple Vision Pro vs Meta Quest 3.

So, we have tried to analyze the Vision Pro and Quest 3 on multiple parameters, like price, build and battery life, performance, OS, content, and display. This extensive comparison should help you decide what you should get!

Apple Vision Pro vs Meta Quest 3 – Design

The most important aspect of any AR/VR headset is its design, followed by the comfort it provides. Let’s break down each element of the design language to see which one stands out.

    Apple Vision Pro

Apple is known for its groundbreaking design sensibility in its products. The same applies to Vision Pro – it’s got a near-perfect design. If we go by the first look, the headset resembles a curved iPhone sprinkled with some elements of the Apple Watch (like the digital crown).

    Apple Vision Pro design

Made of an aluminum alloy frame, the upcoming headsets support a stunning display wrapped beneath a curved pane of 3D laminated glass. In addition, the device includes a stack of 12 cameras and six microphones to ensure hands-free control using eyes, hands, and voice.

The modular design of the frame ensures that the Light Seal fits on your face seamlessly. Further, Apple’s Vision Pro houses an external screen feature called EyeSight that makes the eyes and expressions of the headset wearer visible to others.

It turns on automatically when it senses someone in proximity to the wearer. Also, the wearer sees the outside world in full detail. That’s commendable, indeed! The Apple headset has a 3D knitted fabric-based Head Band, which has a customizable locking solution.

Here, you will also find the audio pods offering an immersive spatial audio experience. On the top, the Vision Pro has the action button that takes spatial photos and videos, while the other button is the crown that helps you control the immersion level in Vision Pro’s “Environments.”

Note: Environments are immersive virtual landscapes that surround the Vision Pro user within the virtual ecosystem.

    Meta Quest 3

Meta Quest 3 is a refined upgrade from the brand with a 40% smaller size. The headset features a white-gray chassis and rounded sides, giving a more compact exterior. However, at 18.2 ounces, it is a tad bit heavier than the Quest 2, which measures 17.7 ounces.

    Meta Quest 3 design

Carved out of plastic, Quest 3’s front houses four cameras in two vertical arrays, with an infrared emitter aligned between them. Two spatial cameras also find their place at the headset’s bottom. You get a pupillary distance adjustment dial and volume rocker on the left underside.

The power button and a three-contact connection for the charging dock (optional) are also found here. The headband features a three-point adjustable harness paired with elastic straps. You can wrap the straps vertically and horizontally around your head.

Moreover, the strap adopts a new Y-shaped spacer at the back of your head, giving a more secure fit. The soft, padded cushions snugly fit your face while blocking most peripheral light. In addition, the right arm carries a 3.5mm headphone jack; the left has a USB-C charging port.

Moreover, both the arms carry built-in speakers. Quest 3 has Touch Plus controllers that offer better spatial detection, haptics, and virtual interactions. Their ergonomic design includes a two-stage index trigger for more seamless controls.

Apple Vision Pro vs Meta Quest 3Display

Apple Vision Pro houses dual micro-OLED screens with a total of over 23 million pixels. Claimed to offer a “better-than-4K” resolution, the headsets provide an uncompromising detailed viewing experience. The 3D layered user interface seamlessly places tech on top of your natural surroundings.

    Apple VIsion Pro Display

The dynamic nature of the overlay ensures that it reacts to light and casts virtual shadows on surfaces. In addition, the LiDAR sensor and front cameras give 3D mapping of your outer world. The experience is so impactful that it blurs the line between real and virtual ecosystems.

Regarding the display battle of Apple Vision Pro vs. Meta Quest 3, the latter provides a flawless display. It has two LCDs, offering an improved 2064×2208 resolution per eye. The refresh rate varies between 72Hz, 80Hz, or 90Hz. However, a 120Hz resolution is also available as an experiment.

    Meta Quest 3 Display

Moreover, the device is designed to deliver 1218PPI and a field-of-view of 110 degrees horizontally and 96 degrees vertically. With a solid display configuration, Meta Quest 3 gives a 4K Infinite Display for all virtual reality lovers.

Apple Vision Pro vs Meta Quest 3 – Cameras and sensors

These mixed reality headsets are capable of transporting the user to the augmented world, thanks to their advanced built-in cameras and sensors. Let’s see how Apple and Meta compete in this measure:

    Apple Vision Pro

Apple Vision Pro houses a collection of 12 cameras, a LiDAR scanner, a depth projector, and six microphones. The front glass features eight cameras. Out of which, two cameras give a 6.5-megapixel resolution dedicated to the passthrough view.

Apple Vision Pro Camera and Sensors

With the remaining cameras, the headset supports positional tracking. Alongside, there are four eye-tracking cameras and one TrueDepth camera.

Vision Pro also includes ambient light and flicker sensors to create a balanced match between virtual and real-world lighting.

    Meta Quest 3

The curved face of Meta Quest 3 has four robust cameras arranged in two vertical arrays and an infrared emitter sandwiched between them. Out of this, two cameras work for spatial tracking, while the other two are the 4MP RGB cameras to give a color-passthrough view.

With RGB cameras, you can view your virtual surroundings more naturally and in detail than Quest 2. It also triggers augmented reality, adding a realistic touch to virtual glimpses. Plus, two spatial tracking lenses are also available at the bottom edge.

Camera and Sensors for Meta Quest 3

However, unlike Apple Vision Pro, Quest 3 doesn’t feature eye-tracking. You cannot control the device with a glance. This comes as a major bummer for gamers.

For sensors, the front frame has a time-of-flight sensor to bless you with better motion and spatial detection. The smooth hand tracking ensures easy interactions in the virtual space.

Apple Vision Pro vs Meta Quest 3Software and key areas of focus

Software is another significant difference between Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3. Apple is promoting the technology behind Vision Pro as Spatial Computing.

It focuses on productivity, entertainment, and gaming. To ensure excellence, Apple has created a dedicated operating system named visionOS for its AR/VR headsets.

    Vision Pro as Spatial Computing

Vision Pro headsets are packed with features like the revamped App Store, immersive environments, and 3-D interface. Further, the device will be a blessing for online gamers. It will allow them to enjoy Apple Arcade games on floating, flat screens.

To everybody’s surprise, Apple is looking forward to creating new AR/VR games for its headsets and has rolled out multiple APIs for third-party developers to work on.

On the other hand, the Meta Quest ecosystem is a gamer’s heaven. It boasts an array of intuitive VR games, including top names like Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, Resident Evil 4, and Superhot VR. Meta is planning to offer a better AR gaming experience in Quest 3.

    Meta Quest 2 for gamers

Precisely, the work alignment for both Vision Pro and Quest 3 will be pretty similar. Users can employ them to access apps/websites and stream movies/TV shows in a real virtual environment.

Interestingly, the Apple Vision Pro unlocks your access to the iOS ecosystem. Unfortunately, Meta does not host such a diverse pool of features.

Apple Vision Pro vs Meta Quest 3Battery and performance

Apple’s Vision Pro houses an M2 processor and a new R1 chip to manage the data wired from cameras and sensors. For batteries, both Vision Pro and Quest 3 come with a plug-in battery pack. Apple’s device offers 2 hours of battery life, while Meta claims their headset can run for up to 3 hours on a single charge.

    Vision Pro Battery

These compact packs are handy and easy to carry in a pocket. However, you can use a wall plug to keep the gadget running longer.

Meta Quest 3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 SoC and 8GB RAM. The manufacturer claims that the power combo speeds up the loading times and doubles the GPU performance.

For battery, you will only get 2-3 hours of run, mainly depending upon the apps you are using and a few other factors. There is also a special Elite Strap that doubles the uptime when plugged with a battery pack.

Apple Vision Pro vs Meta Quest 3Price

With the Vision Pro announcement, Apple has finally played its first card against its competitors in the AR/VR war. While the mixed reality gadget is already winning hearts for its outstanding features, its hefty price tag has stunned the Apple fam.

The device is priced at $3,499 for 256GB storage. Now, you need to love Apple a lot to spend a whopping amount on a headset.

    Apple Vision Pro Price

In comparison, Meta adopts a customer-friendly price range for Quest products. If you are planning to buy the Meta Quest 3, be ready to spend $499.99 for 128GB and $649 for 512GB from your pockets.

So, does Apple have what it takes to justify its price tag? Or will Meta win the race just because it is pocket-friendly? Only time will tell. We can’t wait for 2024!

Apple Vision Pro vs Meta Quest 3Release date

Apple has said that the Vision Pro headsets will be available early next year, i.e., 2024. It’s quite unusual for Apple to just throw a vague release date into the air. But for what they are promising, it’s okay if they take some more time to perfect it.

Meta, on the other hand, is ready to launch its Quest 3 by the end of 2023. Just trying to beat the clock, maybe!

Apple Vision Pro vs Meta Quest 3What’s our take?

The Apple Vision Pro is a perfect combination of design and performance. With its cutting-edge technology, AR/VR headsets blur the line between the real and virtual worlds.

Its super-savvy features, robust power support, battery, better-than-4K display, and integration into Apple’s ecosystem – earn Vision Pro a big thumbs up. However, the hefty price of $3,499 might bog down most people.

Meta Quest 3 takes a big lead against Vision Pro with its pocket-friendly price tag. If you already use Quest 2, Quest 3 can be a good upgrade with a slimmer headset and a stack of powerful features. Further, Meta is promoting Quest 3 as a gaming device, which is not the case with Apple’s headset.

So, now, buying Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3 boils down to your budget, preference, and purpose. I hope this comparative guide will help you make the right choice.

Apple has finally unveiled the long-awaited VR headset and it will be available in Apple stores from February 2. Excited to know what features coming with the Apple Vision Pro?

As we have already got hands-on reviews from developers, let’s explore the nooks and crooks of this “revolutionary spatial computer.” Here’s everything that you need to know about Apple Vision Pro and the hardware that powers it.

Apple Vision Pro – Design and build

Starting with its design, the Apple Vision Pro looks like something right out of Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One or a Black Mirror episode. The headset features a three-dimensional glass on the front, which seamlessly merges into a lightweight aluminum alloy frame with subtle curves.

The aluminum alloy frame, which houses Vision Pro’s internal components, features a Digital Crown and a button on the top-right and top-left side of the headset. Moreover, there are several vents along the edge of the frame paired with a couple of downward-facing cameras and mics.

    Apple-Vision-Pro-Design-and-Build

Apart from that, the frame also offers a magnetic attachment for ‘The Light Seal.’ This soft foam attachment helps eliminate excess light from entering your eyes when using the headset. Moreover, the soft foam-based design enables a comfortable viewing experience for extended usability.

If you wonder how one can wear the headset, it features flexible straps with Spatial audio-enabled audio pods on the sides. As the strap goes around the user’s head, the Apple Vision Pro offers a custom fabric-knitted headband that attaches to the sides with magnetic clips. Users may adjust the headband to ensure a perfect fit.

Apple vision pro external battery pack 800x450 1

Interestingly, Apple has been able to keep the Vision Pro sleek – thanks to a smart battery arrangement. Instead of a built-in power supply, it comes with an external battery pack.

According to Apple, it will support all-day use when plugged in or up to two hours of use when untethered. The battery pack itself is encased in a compact aluminum body and connects to the headset via a woven cable.

Apple Vision Pro – Hardware specifications

The Apple Vision Pro features a pair of postage-sized micro-OLED displays for a total of 23 million pixels. That’s almost 40 percent more pixels than a 4K display for each of your eyes.

To magnify these panels and wrap them around your field of view, the headset has a custom three-element lens that offers incredible sharpness and clarity. Apple has teamed up with Zeiss for those who wear prescription glasses, so users can pair ZEISS Optical Inserts prescription lenses to use their Apple Vision Pro.

These inserts, which attach magnetically to the headset’s lenses, offer support for a huge range of vision correction without compromising the overall performance of Apple Vision Pro’s high-resolution display or eye-tracking capabilities.

Apple vision pro display 800x450 1

    Cameras

As for the headset’s cameras and sensors, the Apple Vision Pro features an array of 12 cameras, 5 sensors, and 6 microphones on the exterior. This system provides high-resolution video to the displays, enables precise head/hand tracking, performs real-time 3D mapping, and more.

Apple has also equipped the Vision Pro with a high-precision eye-tracking system that offers a ring of LED illuminators and IR sensors. This system projects invisible light patterns onto the eyes to track their movement for responsive input without needing to use any kind of hardware controller.

    Chipset

Apart from an array of cameras and sensors, the Vision Pro offers a dual-chip system that includes Apple’s M2 chip along with a new R1 chip.

The M2 delivers phenomenal compute performance, while the R1 chip is specifically designed to handle real-time sensor processing. The latter also ensures that the headset offers a great visual experience without inducing motion sickness.

Apple vision pro chipset 800x450 1

Additionally, these chips power a curved OLED panel found under Apple Vision Pro’s three-dimensional formed glass. This panel utilizes the headset’s EyeSight cameras to create and show a 3D projection of your eyes on the front. So others can interact with you even while you’re wearing Vision Pro.

    Audio

Last but not least, the Apple Vision Pro also features an entirely new Spatial Audio system that delivers sound through dual-driver audio pods present on both sides. Apple states that these audio pods support new audio ray tracing tech, which matches the sound to your room’s acoustic properties.

Apple Vision Pro – Software and user interface

Vision Pro’s high-end hardware is accompanied by an entirely new spatial computing operating system dubbed visionOS. Similar to Apple’s other operating systems, visionOS features a dedicated Home View where you access all of your favorite Apple Vision Pro apps and useful utilities.

Moreover, once you open an app, you can easily resize it or place it anywhere you want it to be. Apple states that its new operating system constantly blends the digital with your physical space. It looks and feels like it’s present in your room with its 3D interface.

Besides, the UI elements in visionOS are designed in a way that they respond to light and even cast shadows. This makes everything you see feel realistic for an immersive user experience.

Apple vision pro home view interface 800x450 1

If you wonder how one can interact with the headset, visionOS features an entirely new input model that allows you to control everything with your eyes, hands, and voice. This is great as it entirely eliminates the need for any kind of controller or additional hardware.

You can simply tap your fingers together to select an object or gently flick them to scroll. Every hand gesture is designed to be as subtle as possible. So you don’t need to always keep your hands in midair.

visionOS also features Siri, allowing you to quickly open or close apps, play media, and much more. Further, you can simply look at any search field and start dictating to type.

Apple vision pro siri 800x450 1

Last but not least, Apple has also equipped visionOS with a completely new biometric authentication system dubbed OpticID. This system uses Vision Pro’s LED illuminators and IR cameras to create a unique mapping of the iris to prevent unauthorized access to the headset and protect your privacy.

    Apple Vision Pro features

Apple Vision Pro offers a seamless way to blend your digital and physical environment to enhance what you can do at home or at work. With apps like Notes, Messages, Keynote, Safari, FaceTime, and hundreds of other iOS apps available on the App Store in visionOS, you can do it all.

Here’s a quick rundown of all the other features offered by Apple Vision Pro:

    Infinite App Canvas for multitasking

One of the best features offered by Vision Pro is the ability to multitask with Infinite App Canvas. With this feature, you can easily open and arrange multiple floating app windows around you in space. You can layer apps on top of each other or even place them above, below, or next to other apps.

Apple vision pro infinite app canvas 800x450 1

Infinite App Canvas even allows you to wirelessly project and expand your Mac’s display into Vision Pro just by looking at it. This is great for times when you might need a huge portable 4K display that can be accessed privately.

To make it easier for you to type and navigate through apps with Infinite App Canvas, you can use Vision Pro’s dictation or virtual keyboard feature. However, if you prefer physical input devices, Vision Pro also supports several Bluetooth accessories, like Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard.

3D FaceTime an video conferencing experience

Apple Vision Pro gives you powerful ways to connect with others thanks to its all-new spatial FaceTime Experience. Now, all participants appear in life-size video tiles that float around or above existing app windows for better multitasking.

Moreover, FaceTime on Vision Pro also supports Spatial Audio. If you wonder how you can join FaceTime calls without cameras in front of you, Apple Vision Pro has a feature dubbed Digital Personas to mitigate this.

Digital Personas use machine learning to create your digital likeness after a quick face scan with Vision Pro’s front sensors. What’s great is that these personas can even realistically mirror your eye and hand movement in FaceTime calls using cameras inside and outside the headset.

    Apple vision pro facetime 1 800x450 1

FaceTime on Vision Pro works seamlessly with other Apple devices so that everyone can join in. There’s also support for SharePlay so you can quickly share apps, collaborate on presentations, share photos and videos, or even watch movies together, just like if you’re physically present with them.

    Engaging entertainment experiences

Besides acting as a tool that can help improve your productivity, Apple also wants its mixed reality headset to be equally useful for offering immersive and engaging entertainment experiences like watching movies or gaming.

If you love watching movies, Apple Vision Pro has a feature called Cinema Environment that lets you turn any room into your personal movie theater. In this mode, the headset automatically dims the lights around you to cast an ambient glow into the surroundings.

Apple vision pro entertainment 800x450 1

To take Cinematic Environments to the next level, you can easily scale your virtual screen up to a maximum width of 100 feet. Also, you may enjoy 3D movies like Avatar and immerse yourself in that world.

Additionally, you can also expand any content beyond the dimensions of a room with ‘Environments‘ that let you control how immersed you are by turning the Digital Crown. Apple states that your favorite movies, TV shows, and interactive HDR content from Apple TV+, Disney+, Max, and other services will be available on Vision Pro.

Furthermore, you will also be able to play more than 250 titles on Apple Arcade games on the headset using compatible controllers. This contains games such as Sonic Dream Team. New spatial games will also be accessible, such as Game Room, What the Golf?, and Super Fruit Ninja.

    Spatial photos and videos

In addition to watching movies with Cinema Environment, Vision Pro also offers a way to capture spatial images or videos with just the press of a button. This feature uses the headset’s cameras and sensors to capture depth information so you can relive your memories in 3D with Spatial Audio.

Apple Visio Pro also has something for those who would love to view photos or videos captured with their iPhones on a huge screen with the redesigned Photos app. Also, you may record spatial video on your iPhone 15 Pro to immerse yourself in your memories.

Vision Pro also includes Apple Immersive Video, which teleports you to 180-degree, three-dimensional 8K recordings produced with Spatial Audio. Moreover, Apple states that every panorama you’ve taken on your iPhone now expands and wraps around you for better immersion.

Apple Vision Pro – Price and release date

The Apple Vision Pro, with its remarkable spatial computing capabilities, will start at $3,499 with 256GB of storage in the U.S. This makes the Apple Vision Pro almost 9x costlier than the Meta Quest 2, the current most popular AR/VR headset available on the market.

Dual SIM smartphones have become popular, allowing you to have two separate phone numbers on one device at all times. For a long time, iPhones only supported a single SIM card. But as time passed, more users began to demand multiple SIM cards. So, Apple has also joined the race and released iPhones supporting dual SIM cards. But are dual SIM iPhones a better choice than single SIM ones? Let’s find that out as we discuss the reasons to use dual SIM on iPhone.

Which iPhone models support dual SIM?

Apple has been expanding its lineup of dual SIM iPhone models, making it the standard. There are three ways to use two SIM cards simultaneously on iPhones: two active nano-SIMs, two active eSIMs, or a combination of both.

A nano-SIM is a physical SIM card that you insert into an iPhone. Whereas an eSIM is a digital SIM. Here’s a list of iPhones that support multiple SIMs.

    1. Select different ringtones for each SIM

With iOS 17, you can now assign unique ringtones to each of your SIM cards. This means that you can easily differentiate between the calls from your primary and secondary SIM/number without having to look at your iPhone.

Benefits of using dual SIM iPhone

Continue reading to learn the most potent reasons to use dual SIM iPhones if you’re unsure whether you need them.

    1. Maintain one iPhone

You no longer need to carry two phones everywhere you go if you have a personal and professional number on a single iPhone with dual SIMs. Also, you may just top up one number and access cellular data on your iPhone without needing to pay anything extra to maintain your other number.

    2. Better network coverage

Staying connected even during carrier outages or service gaps is another reason why you should use a dual SIM iPhone. If you have an iPhone with two SIMs, you can switch to another SIM if one of your telcos has technical issues or poor signals. You will have twice the possibilities for cell reception.

    3. Grab amazing carrier deals

Due to rising competition, all telcos are trying to hold their customer base. So, if one telco provides better packs for making calls, and another offers cheaper data packs, you can use a dual SIM iPhone to access both deals.

    4. Separate work and personal lives

It can be complicated to distinguish between phone bills for business and personal usage if you use only one number for both. Hence, having a dual SIM iPhone is helpful to differentiate between the bills to get reimbursed.

Many users are reluctant to relinquish their personal phone numbers when moving to a business handset. However, if your company lends you a dual SIM iPhone, you can keep using your private number with a work number.

    5. Traveling benefits

If you are traveling abroad, purchasing a local SIM card is often far more affordable than needing to pay roaming fees for the destination nation to make calls. Hence, using an iPhone with dual SIM is highly recommended over a single SIM in such cases to significantly increase your travel savings.

Apart from that, you may take advantage of exclusive discounts on a local SIM. Contacting local companies or persons using a local SIM card is much simpler and offers greater network strength than your international SIM.

    6. More storage for contacts

Most physical nano-SIM cards come with up to 256 kilobytes of onboard storage capacity that can be used to store your contacts and texts. Hence, using dual SIM cards on your iPhone can allow you to carry twice as much data, like your contacts and texts, without syncing anything with iCloud.

    7. Enable or disable a SIM with ease

If you have dual SIMs in your iPhone, out of which one is strictly used when you’re traveling, you may want to temporarily disable your other SIM case or eSIM to prevent roaming charges. Here’s how you can do this with ease:

    1. Go to SettingsCellular.
    2. Select a SIM you want to enable or disable.
    3. Toggle on or off Turn On This Line.

Enable or disable a SIM with ease

    8. Setting preferred SIM for specific people

Having two SIMs makes it easy to manage your personal and professional contacts. Also, you can set different ringtones for both SIM cards, allowing you to distinguish between your professional and personal calls easily.

In case you want a certain SIM/number to be used every time you call a specific contact by default, you can also do that on your iPhone with ease.

    1. Open a contact in the Phone or Contacts app on your iPhone.
    2. Tap the last-used option above the contact’s name.
    3. Select a SIM you want to use when calling the contact → Tap Done.

Set preferred SIM for specific contacts

    9. Rename each SIM for convenience

Also available on earlier versions of iOS, this setting lets you rename each of your SIM, making it easy for you to distinguish between them quickly.

    1. Go to SettingsCellular.
    2. Select a SIM you want to rename.

Go to Settings, Cellular and Select a SIM you want to rename
    3. Tap Cellular Plan Label.
    4. Select a suggested label or tap Type label here to create a new label.

Tap Cellular Plan Label and Select a suggested label

    10. Select different SIM for voice and data

If one carrier provides better packs for calls and another offers cheap data packs, you can get both by selecting which SIM is used for voice and data.

    1. Go to SettingsCellular Cellular Data.
    2. Select your preferred SIM for cellular data.

Select preferred SIM for cellular data from settings
    3. Go back → Tap Default Voice Line.
    4. Select your preferred SIM for voice/call.

Tap Default Voice Line and select preferred sim

    Wrapping up…

Getting a dual-SIM iPhone depends on your needs and preferences. If you travel frequently, need multiple phone numbers, but don’t like carrying two phones, a dual-SIM iPhone may be worth considering. On the other hand, a single-SIM iPhone may suffice if you don’t need multiple phone numbers.
